For me, this summer the last four Baker's Dozen shows will be my longest "run", and I am already exhausted just thinking about it. Honestly, the Friday or Saturday show I may "gift" my ticket to my stepson and have he and Nick go together by themselves. The kids are only going to the 8/2 show.

Besides that, I think the only repeat acts I have seen more than twice are Elton John and Ted Nugent (he plays our county fair often and I can't resist listening to a good guitar player).

Dude. I've given birth naturally twice, and would gladly do it again than experience tooth pain. I am eternally grateful to have been born in America where I have access to modern dentistry- even if it's overpriced. Could you imagine the days where some blacksmith or barber just hammered it with a chisel to break your tooth, and then yanked the pieces out?!

Sorry that you have to deal with it; I hope you're feeling better. I had to delay my arrival to Summer Camp and sent everyone else on their way (and made the five hour drive alone, in a storm) because I had to have an emergency root canal. I was fortunate to have great dental insurance otherwise I'd be $1700 in debt.
My previous shitty health insurance, on the other hand, has left me very, very, very much in debt. The struggle is real, yo.

oh man, he wishes.

I feel kind of the same way. After seeing them almost a dozen times this past year and throwing down for VIP for NYE and their Milwaukee run (all gifts for Nick) I finally told him after Summer Camp that I quit UM.
Meaning... he can go to all the shows he wants, I will join once in a while (like a Milwaukee Saturday show, or a Halloween/NYE show). It's not them, it's me. I'm just not that into them. I gave them a hell of a try, and I get why people love them. I just don't.

And they never brought us the golf carts and we had to walk from the volunteer check in tent at the box office to the blue ridge bowl every day. And it was SOOOO EFFIN HOT! Even when I wasn't walking around in the sun I was miserable. So when I wasn't working I just laid around the campsite trying not to die. At least I was camping in ADA so I could hear the music well, since I never made it into the venue when I wasn't working.
So that's my tale of woe, sorry to unload it on y'all but I feel sooo much better now!
Sorry you had to go through that. Speaking as another ADA attendee, their services were completely lacking in every way pertaining to ADA accommodation (outside of location of camping, and how easy it was arriving).

Nick is super excited for UM and TAB, of course, and we are both damn tickled to see Primus. I'm also a big Waka Flocka fan.
I'm going to hunt to Sean Lennon and try to have a quick conversation and hopefully a picture. i never like approaching artists, and I know they say never meet you idol(s kid), they only disappoint, but... I'm feeling compelled in this particular case. Seeing as, you know, I've named two children in his and his dad's honor.

Red is probable, but not for sure. It may be a last minute get up and go.
Green is a for sure.
We will also be seeing a lot of random local shows. Also this Saturday, the reggae band that played our wedding reception is playing a 4:00 show in town. Saturday Funday for me!!!!
May 26-28, Summer Camp in Chillicothe, IL
June 2nd, Ween in Royal Oak, MI
June 8-9 Blue Ox in Eau Claire, WI
July 12th, Huey Lewis and The News, in Oshkosh, WI
July 14-16, Phish in Chicago, IL
August 2, 4, 5, 6 Phish in NYC, NY
Ugh... I just realized that's a lot of Phish in a short period of time. Damnit, Nick!

Jazz Fest and tons of late nights April 28 - May 7 I think.
Festival in Atlanta mid-June
Roger Waters July 8
Phish July 27 - Aug 2 (5 shows)
Lockn
We will be at the August 2nd show with the kids! Their first show. Nick started a Napster playlist for her to get better acquainted (and hopefully keep her entertained enough to prevent the "is it over yet?" eyerolls.
Noah on the other hand, had the "privilege" of having two very enthusiastic Phish fans for parents, and despite now strictly listening to "country" music (if that's what you can call the new stuff), he has had their whole catalog beaten into his brain and should have fun. He said he enjoyed Red Rocks last year with his mom for Jerry's birthday show.

My friend whom I was traveling with is one of my best friends of 20 years. She moved away and is a single mother to three little ones, I'm enveloped in work/grad school so we usually only speak/see one another a few times a year. Point being... I forgot how annoying she is, and she put a damper on most everything.
She's overweight and very out of shape, so she mainly complained about walking or being active in any fashion. She was very content to go to bed early after overeating at dinner. She whined a lot, muttered things passive aggressively under her breath, and more or less called me elitist because I was vocalizing the differences I was observing between the resort and others I have been on. She was very loud, judgmental, and abrasive and critical.
Since she had zero experience traveling anywhere, she had no idea about crowd-etiquette and was constantly up in arms about someone being in her space/getting ahead of her in a queue/accidentally sitting too near her/beating us to a seat/doorway/elevator.
So I was basically in "zen" mode the entire time, repeating in my head "let it go", "it will be okay", "no big deal", and other various statements to get through our days, and let her get her way in order to cope.
Seriously considering letting this friendship fizzle out. But the upside was it was so beautiful, and I am already planning a way myself and the family can get back for a little R&R late this year.

Oh MAN! I sure wish you could have seen her perform. Thank you so much for making your way down, though. It really means a lot!
Oh, and everything went off without a hitch, she had a very good time! Thank you everyone for the advice and helping me feel better.

2. jukeboxes with Phish choices, even rarer
3. jukeboxes with live Phish choice near implausible
4. jukeboxes with 3 live Phish choices, might as well play Powerball
Touchtunes "jukeboxes" allows the owner/lessee to choose what music is available directly on the jukebox, but now they have an app which gives you more choices, and the ability to see what songs are next, skip those songs, or insert your choices into the middle of those that are in the lineup. I think it's bullshit and totally rude that people do that, and is probably 50% of the reason why Nick and I don't frequent the pub as much as we used to. We like to be able to actually hear the music we want to hear when drankin'.
I miss the days of going "awwww yeah, my songs are up!"
Post by moon on Apr 11, 2017 6:55:12 GMT -5
So very accurate. Except the kids are starting to really dig the jams.
This also applies when Nick puts the Phish on the juke at our local pub. The bartenders groan bc they know he's put on at least three 10-15 minute jams.
It's usually done in retribution for having to listen to Five Finger Death Punch or even Adele played by what we refer to as "visitors", i.e. the rich folk who stop in after a charity thing at the Arts Center down the street, after one of them says "Hey- let's get a pizza at that cute dive bar so we can appear totally relatable and try to remember the old days when we were regular people and not sheep with tans and highlights in our hair".
