Phil with Warren Haynes, Barry Sless, John Molo, and Rob Barraco (the Q, minus Herring, plus Sless) playing at the Capital Theater in a couple of weeks. Got my tickets and high hopes for what I am sure will be a great show in a perfect theater.

i'll just leave this here to stir up some shit
for the record, i read the whole thing, and agree with most of what this guy said, but i feel like an observer watching from the outside as i never sad the dead live and the only way you could get me to go to FTW is if you gave me free tickets.

I agree & disagree with parts of he has to say. Is it a Grateful Dead show without Jerry? Was the core 3 of Zeppelin A Led Zeppelin show? I would go to either one. I still hope to get tickets to Chicago but will not be overly disappointed if I miss it. And I will not get pay for view or go to a theater to see it. Just not the same as being there live. Not the same without Jerry but it's going to be a hell of a show.

It's the Grateful Dead if they call it that. It went on after several people died. I will really miss Jerry in Chicago but will celebrate his life and what everyone of them gave me to enhance my life. I am a better person for experiencing them. I turned on tuned in and dropped out right when Keith died. Lots of people didn't think it would carry on then as I'm sure they did when Pig died. All in all I think what came from all of this will continue to grow evolve and improve and when I see five year olds dancing next to seventy year olds I know it will carry on to the children of my grandchildren's kids and that makes me very grateful!

my main concern is the extra costs. what are hotels looking like there at that time? they have to be outrageous.

Ok, here's the skinny. I was going halves on Mail Order with a friend. I booked a room at The Hard Rock and paid for it upfront ( so I wouldn't have to whine about it later ) and I paid for the tickets. My friend, she just bailed on me. I was going to Miracle a show to someone because if I can afford it, I always do (paying it forward as often as I can). If you're interested I have a queen suite at the Hard Rock. It has 2 beds and 2 large lounge things to sleep on. You're more than welcome to crash there if you'd be willing to kick in a few bucks for the room (no more than you can afford, really). There will most likely be one other person sharing (my road dog from Wanee and Lockn) but not sure about anyone's plans yet... So think about it. We are also going to see Eric Lindell, a tribute to The Band and some members of Little Feat doing a tribute to Lowell George on Thursday night.

However, if Sneake can't make it I hope you will consider selling it to me for my cousin. She lives/works in Chicago and got shut out. She really wants to to one of the shows if she can and any of the days would be fine for her. I was planning on just trying to buy her one on the lot for Sat/Sun when I am there Friday afternoon.
- Sneake take your time and no pressure on anyone from me. I just told my cousin I would do my best to find her one so figured I would mention it it here...

Since we have a little bit of anonymity here, I feel ok posting that I have extras. Trying to decide who gets them is going to be a very hard decision. So many people need tickets. I think they are going to be available at reasonable prices soon. Stub Hub costs are already dropping.

I am sure you know plenty looking, just figured I'd put another option on the table for you here. Or for any others who stumble across extras and see my post.
But that is what I told my cousin, that it wouldn't be a problem for me getting her one on lot and if she looked on the internet leading up to the show she should be able to find something somewhat reasonable.
I got the the CID travel package for two which is will call. I am curious as to how that works because I would be happy to trade our 2 tickets which face the stage for 3 behind it so we can all go and I can see the show with my cousin. The person who is in the travel package with me said that was fine with her, so that is really my main plan as of now.

If they do add the shows out west like the rumor says I think even more will be available at lower prices. not gonna lie, i already pulled it up on google maps. 13 hours drive. Pittsburgh is almost exactly halfway. curious if any of our family live in that area that have an empty couch. my car is failing (ive been saving for a new one, all of which was recently wiped out due to a short hospital stay) and there are other financial considerations. i just... i know i would never forgive myself if i ignored the miracle that has been handed to me. i dont want to adult anymore. responsibilities are stupid.

Seriously Sneake I would not pass up an offer like this. You never know what the future has in store for you. I took off driving across country with $400 for 10 days in Cali to see the New years '88 Grateful Dead run and I am so glad I did it when I had the opportunity. My wife was not very happy as she had to stay here and work but she has long since forgiven me.

LOL, I went to a NYE show in my evil youth. I went out with friends and got stranded. (We trekked from Boston) Friend hooked up with someone and decided to just stay there... Anyway, some random guy I just met said "Here, take my truck". It was an older beater Ford, he let me drive cross country home in it, then sent me the title and told me to Miracle it to someone. I did, but I'll always remember how special it feels to have unexpected acts of kindness from strangers...
