Yes, you must do this especially since you've never been to a Dead concert. You need to make this happen. I am actually curious if they will. If they decide to do mail order, they better step their game up and hire some additional sorters or they will still be sorting mail by the time they take the stage. Maybe Phish will let them borrow their online ticket lottery software.
However, if they don't do it all you will get is the "total cash grab man" crowd and all of that crap and the endless bitching about ticketmaster and stubhub.
Either way an announcement for those needs to be made soon so they give themselves some time for the inevitable mistakes and changes.

Apparently Bill Walton tweeted and deleted something about it. Maybe there's something to the rumor after all. Seems like a ling time since hearing it was a "sure thing" with no announcement, though.

Ya, even if they announce Monday, it seems like 90 days from announcement to showtime is pretty fast. I am sure it could be done, but I don't see how a mail order would fit into that schedule.

FWIW - about two weeks ago, someone on reddit reached out to Elvis at GDTSTOO about the additional shows. Elvis stated, very explicitly, that GDTSTOO would not be offering a presale for the California shows.
Besides, do you really want to go through another mail order debacle with them? That was absolutely terrible. I tried to avoid bitching about it too much, as I know it was done with good intentions; but they really, really botched that whole process.
Nonetheless, I hope they announce these gigs soon. A pair of shows in California should have a hefty impact on the secondary market for the Chicago shows.

I had in mind something like this...
Also you get extra points if your car breaks down on the way and you have to have your car towed onto the lot...even more if you are in it...
