Talk about concert events you almost attended

Not at first. But then...
Actually I had the tickets for a few months and she announced the date after I got them. She was heart set on getting married on Pi day and we had pie instead of cake.
The wedding was really nice. I haven't heard how the concerts were. She got a lot better in the last couple days and it was bitter sweet to have her move out and start her own family, but she is 27 and saved herself for this day so all is well except for my wife lost her constant companion and is feeling emotional.
Thanks for the advice to go to the wedding. My mom and sister said they would make me suffer if I didn't go and that's one fire I would never play with!

On the flip side my wife and I are trying to figure out how to travel to more shows.

No, you definitely should be OK with that and should enjoy the freedom.  My dog, Ashes, passed away 4 years ago.  At the time I was single and living alone.  Working and out of the house most of the time and then working a second job on weekends.  I chose not to get another dog because I was not home often enough to socialize and provide for the dog and quite frankly, that wouldn't be fair for the dog.  I did enjoy the freedom that allowed.

The wife had an older dog when I met her and she passed away in February.  We were doing some travel and boarding her prior to that.  We have enjoyed the relative freedom of not having a dog for most of this year.  I don't know if we would have done Chicago, Lockn, New York, several overnights to DC, etc. if we still had Cleo with us, but it was certainly much easier not having to worry about arrangements for a dog.

That said, the thing driving out pulling back from travel is mostly financial.  We spent far too much money this year and had a great time doing it, but not sure it was sustainable at that rate.  Our plan was always to get more dogs when we were ready for a house.  Things have changed and i work from home most of the time and there are 2 of us, so we are better positioned to care for a dog than I was as a single guy.  

It is not going to completely put the stop to all travel, we will still be going to Lockn and Barn Bash next year.  We'll still be going to lots of local shows (i.e. Richmond, C-ville, Harrisonburg, etc).  It will be a little bit more planning involved in the overnights, but the rewards are worth it at this time in our life.  

Like Southerman family is more important. Joanne is still wheelchair bound at least till the end of this month. So I missed seeing Jackson Browne with Larry Cambell & Teresa Williams opening & tonight is Tinsley Ellis who I've seen many of times. Would love to see him at Lockn'. I know what you ladies mean when you say a woman's work is never done. I do all the laundry, cooking, take care of 4 dogs, 5 cats, fish & a bird besides trying to keep the house clean.
I know what you say when taking of extended family, animals, is enormous. we have one shelter dog. 2 that were abandoned in the woods behind us & of course Joanne has to have her Cocker Spaniel. Could't live without them.
They do have Jethro Tull tickets going on sale soon. Does anybody know what the advertisement "written & performed bu Ian Anderson" means?
