Welcome to the Lockn' Forum - The home of the original Lockn' Music Festival family!
Thinking more of ending songs.... I recall that the Dead's first show after Jerry died was "He's Gone." But that would be a sad note to end on. Although not my favorite, "Touch of Gray" is about accepting and embracing the forces of aging and time (as is Box of Rain but that's way too sad). That and the line "looks like the old man is getting on" which brought howls of appreciation when Phil Lesh sang it w/ Furthur a few years back. And we bid you goodnight.... I have been looking for the version of New (New?) Minglewood Blues from the Bob Weir documentary pretty much since I have watched it. Based on a post on reddit I am not the only one. Does anyone know where it might have come from? Its driving me crazy. I've looked at a lot of the early stuff and haven't found it yet. It starts at 13:16 on the clip below. I'm guessing it is an early studio recording, maybe even a Warlocks recording. Also is the difference between New New Minglewood Blues, New Minglewood Blues, and Minglewood Blues a changed rhythm or just a naming error? I've always been curious. Obviously All New Minglewood Blues from Shakedown is different but the others seem the same. Please note: This forum is in no way officially associated with Lockn' Festival or its promoters.

At the Bill Graham memorial the dead opened with hell in a bucket. I think that says they will call it like they see it, no holds barred and that we should expect anything.
Odds have it Brokedown Palace is the last song we will get from them but...

Then I thought, fare the well is from Cassidy and is followed by let the words be yours I'm done with mine which is also appropriate. Hopefully a lot of "words" will follow their farewell that grow and nurture the love and music that has influenced my life and so many others.
Random, maybe. It is just really hitting me that this is it and it's coming so soon.
