I had this typed up in another thread and realized it was the wrong place for it so I started it's own thread. I've gotten this far a number of times and just deleted it. I don't care if anyone reads it or not. I just had to get this off my chest. Let me preface all of this with a disclaimer. I do not know any of the principals nor do I actually know what they feel of think. Where declarative statement are made those should be interpreted strictly as my conjecturing.
The reason we are not getting the core four is because Phil is tired of playing with them and doesn't want to tour.
What amazes me is that the FTW shows have been labeled a cash grab. I think the term greedy bastards is being bandied about. Let me ask you this. What would you have done? Full scale tour? Phil has said he doesn't want to tour. That is not conjecture by the way, it's what he said. Not play any shows at all? Can you even fathom the righteous indignation the dead community would wrap itself in with "Jerry is spinning in his grave" statements and how they OWE us shows. It would be absurd, just about like it is now.
Ticket prices? We created that. They announced 3 shows and WE went nuts. Not them. There was no ticket fiasco. A lot of people did not get tickets. That was not the fault of the GD ticketing. The number of seats allotted to pretty envelope requests is the number of tickets that went to people. Didn't they cancel the presale and divert those tickets to pretty envelopes? Bastartds. No matter how they would have done it A LOT of people, actually the exact same number, would not get tickets. They should have known. How? Have Furthur, Ratdog, Billy, P&F shows been selling out stadiums? NO. Selling out 20,000 sheds? Not really. 3 nights in a 60,000 seat stadium? No way.
Didn't get tickets or it isn't going to work out for you to go to Chicago or SC? Sorry. If you've never been shut out of tickets before then you've been pretty darn lucky. I've been shut out before and this is what it feels like. Sucks doesn't it. Don't want to pay scalper prices? Don't. I only have once in my life. I don't intend to again. Can't fly to Chicago or the west coast? Sorry. I can't afford to go to lot's of shows. Never been to see WSP at Red Rocks. Bummer. Pissed they aren't playing in your town... on your birthday... for just your friends... I got nothing. Want to see other bands that are more relevant? Cool, you should do that. Don't give a shit about them playing? Not sure why you are part of the conversation but ok I guess. Not happy with the options for the theaters, streaming and pay per view? I'm not sure you would be happy with anything. They owe us? They don't owe us dick. You and I made the decisions to invest all the time and effort we did into them. They played the shows and that was all that they owed us. Nothing more.
We are lucky to be getting what we are.
