And you gotta give State College, at least, some credit. That amount of traffic would be downright lethal. My street was busy enough last night, because people flock from all over to let their kids trick-or-treat in my neighborhood. It's fairly affluent and VERY safe. I don't mind shelling out a little extra once a year if it means that some kid who has nothing for a costume (and there were too many for it to be lack of planning) gets a moment of happiness. Whatever their parents may or may not have done to deserve their lot in life, the children are blameless. But, anyway, more cars were the last thing we needed.

Also:

1. Giving out candy free for the asking is socialism, I know.

2. Yes, everything does come down to class with me, so you needn't point it out.

Had not considered the football aspect. Even tho we live in the midst of several universities and colleges the area is large enough that they aren't the only things here. Football traffic really doesn't impact me. I just know not to head to those parts of town(s) on game days. But places like Starkville (Miss State), Oxford (Ole Miss), Auburn etc are much the same as College Station. Chapel Hill would be as well if not for being in such close proximity to Raleigh & Durham.

For perspective, the population of State College without the University is about 45,000. The Penn State student population adds an additional 45,000. And a home football game brings in an extra 100,000 people. It's huge. Definitely worth moving trick or treat night.
