Word on the street is that ticket sales are only about 15,000 so far this year compared to 25,000 last year. if this is true I am guessing that the Fare The Well shows had a lot to do with that. A lot of people's disposable income went to Santa Clara and Chicago I think. Not sure what this means long term for Lockn, probably not much. Looks like Frey and Shapiro are "all in" and just have to ride this out. Personally I will be glad when the 50th celebration will be over and we can get back to business as usual.

Probably. I think it is also a weaker set with no youth draw. Love em or leave em Wilco can sustain their own festival and must have brought some people in. Other similar bands could do the same in the future, but none this year. Gotta think about your pipeline! Also Willie probably pulled in some local country fans. But let's not start that conversation again....

Hard to believe (for me anyway) that there would be sluggish ticket sales with the lineup being as "stacked" as it is. But maybe that's the problem - it's "stacked" for a certain market, and more than a few folks in that market allocated their $$$ somewhere else this year.

The street is Oak Ridge Road. The source is one of the workers at the Lockn site. I do not know if this worker is a temporary contractor or the head of ticket sales. Just sharing information as it was presented to me.

makes me happy for small crowds, but sad that it isn't bringing the promoters revenue. i'm so glad they've invested in the land and infrastructure. makes me confident they've got at least a couple years to come.
if it makes this fest sustainable in the long term, bring on wilco. have them play all 4 nights for all i care.

I have a feeling that property is going to be a strong pull over time for many music events and not just Lockn.

Also wish the best for Frey & Shap but won't complain if its not packed. I just need a few thousand new friends not 10's of thousands.

Wilco x 2, Grace, Drive by Truckers, Cheese, WSP, Furthur (cancelled) all would bring in the youth. I mention Furthur b/c I think the youth looks for a GD package, like that or DSO, rather than the individuals split apart. As do I.

Allman Bros and Furthur brought in a number of my friends who aren't going this year (they bought before Furthur cancelled) but that's just a handful; I have a couple of new additions. But out of 20,000 gate these microcosms don't tell us anything.

Some went to Chicago, others did not.

But that was only because I knew my type of ticket would not sell out, and I am solo; my BIL, getting an RV, bought his way early b/c they do sell out. Meanwhile, I needed to hedge against not being able to go due to matters beyond my control, a likely factor in my life.

That being said, as soon as they announced the additions of Weir/Hart, I bought within minutes!

If I can, I'll try to get some intel from friends in the business, but they can be tight-lipped!

Camping passes still available for will-call pick up only

Vibes had a light crowd this year. GD50 (and a weak lineup) had a lot to do with it.

That being said my 4 camping buds from the last two Lockns are not going this year for a variety of reasons including GD50.
