Advice: don't get your hopes up

I can take missing a day of performances because of the weather, but it is disappointing. I'm a bit more peeved about the GA RV camping pass that clearly states "Electric Hookup" that I never received. I had a good time, but there were things that were just not done well and could have been remedied, they were not a priority. I do not think we will return.

If the promoters were on top of the game they would be concerned about opinions like the two just posted, because I think they reflect a large part of the target market.

IMO the typical VIP patron--a strong and important market share--isn't going to say, "well, since for two years I haven't had the real benefit of paying extra, I'll just go GA next year." He's going to say, "not worth it" and do something else. And it's not just VIP; this is an older crowd that tends to be less forgiving about avoidable and repeat failures (and more understanding about the ones from the "act of God") and which places more value on comfort than the younger and more resilient.

there are some people who will "do anything" to see certain bands but there aren't enough of them to make a festival work. The successful guys in the business tell me that it's not about the individual components, but the entire experience, that makes the next venture's success.

I'm going to let the dust settle some at CID and then start poking around, then hook over to global affairs. I'll also keep an ear out about the GA-RV situation.

As I said in a another thread maybe my rig was too big for GA RY, but I'm not willing to pay 3x more. Sorry fixed income and all.

Hey, if folks think they're entitled to a refund, that's their opinion, man. What I don't like is the suggestion that we love Lockn so much that we'll give them a free pass on anything they do, and that's what's preventing the refunds from happening.

So this is like my third time using the site on a real computer, and its impressive. Lot more info and ease of access. But, that isn't my purpose here, I saw two deleted members, Loser, and Jaberzz and wonder if it was this lively discourse that set them off or if Worf just gave them the boot. I think one of them I got a little crisp with when all this started and was going to apologize because he echoed my road dogs bitching and I was tired of it, but now that I read the whole thread I am glad Worf booted them (please don't boot me Worf)

This is not nice

Nobody can be nice all the time, or to everyone. If you disagree, I understand there's a lovely Facebook group that values niceness very highly that you may be interested in.

Now don't get me wrong. I'm not saying F off and go join some other group. What I am saying is you might be happier there, because I (and I'm speaking for no one but myself here) feel we have personalities on this site and we allow people to have personalities on this site. I feel we are a family (and have the family photos to prove it), but like most families, we might be a bit dysfunctional. I feel like we value freedom of speech very highly, but recognize that that freedom also includes the freedom to criticize others' speech. We have very few rules - by design - and are primarily self-policing. I think if the regularly contributing members had thought either loser or jabberz was being treated unfairly, they would've spoken up. I know I, personally, have stuck up for folks who got called names for having unpopular opinions.

Some people think hippies should be nice all the time. I wouldn't know; I'm not a hippie. I don't think everyone who likes this music is. I don't think everyone who likes this music has to be a hippie or be nice all the time either. We should always strive to be at least civil to each other, if we can't be friends. But, as in at least one case, don't go around looking for fights and then cry foul when you can't win them.

I should have specified that I was referring to the idea that estprofin would want someone 'booted off' the site. I failed to see the humor,aside from the remark about asking Worfy not to boot him off. We all know that Worfy would not if he could and can't anyway. I was in no way suggesting that everyone had to be nice here. I don't think I have been particularly nice however I have been frank and felt that I could without getting booted off. I think Worfy likes to.sparI bit and I've been enjoying it for the most part.
I apologize but I feel compelled to use Worfy after seeing a photo- such a cutey despite some of the writing!

what I found interesting from a human nature side was there was a recent new poster who got a bit contentious, and her avatar--just a cartoon face you can pick--had a very challenging tone to it. And while it's completely illogical to associate the face in the avatar with the tone of the words, it naturally happens. This may have made her approach seem even more aggressive.

That goes along with the endemic problem of typed communication and how a reader can pick up a nuance or attitude the writer never intended.

And Worf your new avatar is much warmer than the old one, too!

You have crystallized my thoughts eloquently. Definitely feels like more of a real family here. I hope this never changes. I'm glad that we are allowed to be ourselves.
