What did you listen to today?

Oh, and this post is mostly for mccjeff. Big Daddy Love is now describing this winter as a hiatus. They are planning to play at least some shows again in the spring. It doesn't sound too definite and certainly sounds like the band is going to move to more of a part-time thing for them, but hopefully they are not done.

Wilco....Ashes of American Flags. From the opening sequence of the movie by the same name. Always makes me think of the disappearing small towns across this country of ours. They opened up with this during their second day at Lockn. Check out the build of the band during the outro.

I went a few years back myself today, and whupped out Robbie Robertson's Storyville. Wow..what an album. I was still in the military, stationed in Augsburg, in what had been West Germany. Witnessed the wall fall, while in country. Amazing times.
They shipped most of our spouses home as the first gulf war was within a few days of beginning. Alone & overseas, I listened to ALOT of music just waiting for the word.



Can't tell you how much I fell in love with that album. Hold Back the Dawn, Soap Box Preacher, What About Now. Killer tunes. He has a tremendous body of excellent work. Would love to see him live. I think we need to swap some files!

last night on Mountain Stage we had shovels and rope, Rhett Miller (old 97's) and Todd Snider.

Todd starts hour two and is back to his self-depreicating stoner persona that made him famous; he talks about jam bands, festivals and hooking up with Dave Schools to make Hard Working Americans; he acts as if he didn't do anything, of course. Meanwhile he captures the Lockn gig.

Anyone else dig the Alan Parsons Project? My mom used to have a greatest hits album she'd play and whenever I throw them on or bring them up in conversation, my friends are just like "uh, okay..."

They play in the next big town over in a small venue every year and I always learn that they're playing too late and miss it. I'm determined to remember and go this year.

Used to have a lot shirt a friend made with a blue/red brain stealie (your brain on Dead?) on the front, and that face airbrushed on the back. Claypool-Lennon Delirium crushed some King Crimson, classic and more latter-day, at Peach too.
