What did you listen to today?

If you want to go hardcore in your mental prep, I heartily suggest his Emperor Concerto (Piano Concerto No. 5) in its entirety. The most perfect 40 minutes of continuous music I have ever heard. First movement is nothing short of incredible and the second movement is the most achingly beautiful music I've ever heard. And then the transition from the second to the liveliness of the third? Daaaaammmmmnnnn. Jambands that pride themselves on transitioning between songs need to give that a listen.

And of course his entire 7th and 9th Symphonies aren't exactly crap either. 

Currently working my way through Beethoven's greatest hits. Mentally preparing myself for Reed Mathis and Electric Beethoven next weekend. Better knowledge of Beethoven = greater appreciation of the experience.

thelizard and I have a 1976 26' Columbia in Deltaville. It has fallen into disrepair as we've not been on it in years due to serious illnesses in the family. We both lost our parents to cancer and then I became ill with pulmonary fibrosis and can't tolerate mold. You can't be around boats, especially one with a bilge, without some degree of mold. My dad was also a sailor. I grew up sailing a Cape Dorey with Dad. We always listened to Beethoven under sail. 

I haven't listened to classical on my sailboat, but now that you mention it, maybe I should. When the wind is perfect and everything is flowing ideally (rare), I usually put on eyes of the world. I love hearing Jack Shaw when there are eagles on the lake.
