True and I didn't mean to sound so snarky. In some places this is a serious and dangerous storm and more people have died in it already than all of last years' US hurricanes, maybe last several years'.

But whenever a place like Atlanta collapses and shuts down over 2" of snow, there is a great amount of scoffing from those who say "that's normal; we'd always be shut down."  But the ensuing panic is unnecessary since it's gone in a day or two, and there is a lot of over-reaction, and then the driving thing since none of them can manage even a dusting.   We get the same thing here and in my opinion the schools are too quick to close and stay closed until the last scrap of ice is gone.  Can't take risks any more.

Charleston airport has 5 inches.  That's something to reckon with and especially, as you note correctly, with no equipment to deal with it.  Some people there will complain that they need to buy more equipment but that is just a waste of dollars; patience resolves it.
