We got ours today too! Yay!

Does anyone else see the problem with this picture?

Paid 12 bucks for fast shipping. Shipping info submitted on Thurs, and was supposed to be here today. According to the tracking info, it hasn't even made it to a UPS facility yet...

I have not seen any reports of SVIP or VIP receiving wristbands or passes yet. Still plenty of time left...

We got our wristbands today too. Woo! We ordered camping after the map was released so I figure they're toward the end of the stack. Or should I call Shapiro and demand an explanation!?

Oh, I have little wrists. and this plastic RFID thingy is HUGE. Finally.

So if I link my wristband to my credit card and you find me passed out and are able to use my wristband to buy you a beer..you are welcome.

That sounds like an interesting story. Being from VA, I am ALWAYS into an interesting story! Can't wait to shake everyones hand & make some new friends. It won't be long now.

Actually, this would be useless.

first off, the inexpensive, passive, non-powered RFID chips used in festival bands only work within a few centimeters of a scanner.  So you would have to to place cell phone within an inch or so of the persons wrists, and some people might regard that as inappropriate touching.  Second, if you have ever scanned into and out of Centeroo, you know that sometimes you have to place your bracelet directly on the scanner and try four or five times to get it to read.

third, suppose you actually got your phone to read someone's code...now, how are you going to use that code to buy from a vendor?  Are you going to say gee I lost my bracelet my but my rfid code is 286354H7629720A1? Nope, because the transaction is only made based on the scan of the bracelet - no readable bracelet, no drinkable beer. Are you going to manufacture a new RFID with the stolen code in your tent at Lockn?  Nope, because you can't. So the stolen code is perfectly useless.

and by the way, for others, if you register the bracelet for cashless vending, the bracelet does not have any of your credit card information on it.  It just has a long, unique identification number.  That's it. It gets paired up with your cc info on the vending computer system, not on your bracelet.  In order to steal credit card info from the cashless vending system, you have to hack the vending computers, not the bracelet, and this would be more comfortably done from a coffee shop in Prague rather than a sweltering beer garden in Virginia.

im not advocating for or against the cashless system, just trying to clear up some fundamental misinformation about how it works.  No one is going to hack your cc info with a portable NFC reader or cell phone because it does not yield any useable information.  Someone might put a skimmer on the ATM machines which will then deliver hundreds of ATM card numbers and passwords by the end of the weekend, but I have yet to read a paranoid post about that.  

Read your 2600 magazine if you can find one.

Yesterday I received confirmation from the guy in Delaware who bought my tickets that the wristbands had been received. Today I received a confirmation email from USPS that they were shipped. Out of order it seems things are working.
