I call my friends after I finally made it in the fest and they informed me that after pleading with the parking guy they were able to save me a spot beside them. It was up to me to make it to them past all the parking people directing me in the opposite direction.
I asked the guy at the intersection right past BRB if he could let me go straight through towards the woods stage. He said "I can't let you go that way but if I was to turn around there isn't ....."
He had said enough, as soon as he started to turn around I stepped on it and rolled right up to my reserved spot beside some of the best festie friends one could have.
This was a special circumstance for sure but I would say it is possible to go somewhere besides where you are being directed just don't count on it.

We got the "head down this road and park wherever you like" last year right before the Doobies thing. So obviously, that won't happen again this year because they change everything every year.

At L2 I came in Friday and there was acres of space available so I put the wasto parker in my car and we drove around to a good spot way up on the hill. His only concern when we got there was that I was inside the lines, and since I park it as tight as I can, he was very helpful with that.
L3 was tighter--everyone came in at once, and also they oversold. But they let me choose the top of the hill or bottom; being from the South of course I took high ground. once up there, they were parking us close to other spots already taken, but still I had choices among about 8 spots in the grid--which corner, etc. For a while I had open space next to me. Then eventually it all filled in.

We have a six person tent, easy-up, and GMC Terrain. Should be cozy. We like to hang tapestries to provide privacy and shade when applicable.
At Alpine the site was 40x80 which was more than enough, plus the site next to us was on a corner and being used for a row of recycling bins and we were told we could use if needed (we didn't). On the other side was one group who had two sites, and only half used the one adjacent to us. If only we should be that lucky at Lockn'.

One reason we like to camp w/ friends is so we can gropu the area in the center together. Makes it a little more roomy.
A little concerned about coziness in tent-only now that it has sold out.

None of our friends wanted to go to Lockn', but of course everrrrrryyyyybody and their brother is going to Vegas. So it's just the two of us.
We usually are very laissez faire about arriving at these things, but hearing the stories about ADA camping being given to whoever shows up with a disabled hanger regardless of whether they purchased an ADA pass or not has me all paranoid.

Two years ago things were very smooth and orderly and such things got checked.
I guess we wait and see this year.

most of what i've read so far says you're allowed one tent and one canopy within your allotted space. i'm going with two friends (a couple) in one car. right now the plan is for them two have their own tent so they can do their thing and me pitch my own small tent as well, in addition to the canopy we're putting up.
obviously it'll be a snug fit no matter the policy, but my question is: is this policy strictly enforced? or do they not really care so long as you stay within your allotted space?
thanks!

(Except maybe vending, which I wouldn't say is strict, but they do put some effort into putting it down).
