Welcome to the Site surferj.Okay, so I've familiarized myself with the new map. It doesn't exactly show where you enter the venue. Is there a single entrance or multiple? What is the best way to approach when driving?
Last year everybody came in thru the field of misery and then onto your designated area. This year they are going to have more entrances, but I'm not sure how they are going to do this as of yet. I guess we will find out when we get there.
I guess your best approach depends on what part of the country you're coming from. I will be coming from the south and be going up 29 till I see the signs. You will definitely want to enter the area coming off of 29.
It appears from the map that there might be two entrances off of 29 though. One that will possibly divert traffic to VIP, Preferred, and RV. And another that looks like it would situate the people in the new Camping lands that they recently acquired. Of course RV might be taking that lower road too. I just don't know...

makes me a little sad to see the Tree so far off in the corner. i enjoyed walking by it a few times a day. i doubt i'll see it even once this year...

Last year, which has very little bearing on this year, I think the volunteer camping was located on the far left side of Car Camping 1. If you look at the old map on the previous page it was right where the bubble that says ADA and Preferred Tent Entrance is.

Hey peeps,
First year for Lockn here.
Can anyone who knows the venue briefly describe
what the map calls *RV Ridge*?
Is it relatively level or will I need plenty
of blocks to stabilize the RV?
I'm not totally psyched about the map changes
but I hope it makes the experience better for alPr

Pretty level evolve. We didn't need any levellers where we were last year. The original 2014 map had rv spilling down the hill and had me concerned. It is nice being on the ridge in rv. Better views of the Blue Ridge to the west and there was always a little breeze. It will be the only walk UP the hill after the shows but it's not that big a deal.
Changes to the map just made it better for us. And made it a lot better for most everyone else. Those long walks from the far car camping lots were brutal. As long as there is good transportation for ADA I think everyone wins.

You wouldn't happen to know how they parked the RVs
last year? Was it orderly filled or more haphazard?
And any info on how far away and loud the supply
generators were from the RV site?

It was orderly in rows. No worries there. The Supply Generators were big contained units that were at the end of the rows. Probably 4 - 6 of them. If you were the spot closest to them it might have impacted you but we weren't that far and never noticed them. 30 amp service supplied. If you need 50 you need to bring a converter.
