2014 Map

so, from the looks of it, i get to pay 4x as much to be in what was car camping 2 last year. car camping 1 is now tent only camping. car camping 1 was huge. do they really think they'll have enough tent only campers to fill up that whole area? after having my stuff stolen last year, im too paranoid to go tent only. 2014 car camping 2 might be the place to be this year

Although I was in Car Camping 1 last year, there was a part of me that felt I would have been better off in Car Camping 2 (what will be Car Camping 1 this year).

Yes, the walk from Car Camping is longer - however, compared to larger festivals, I insist that it really isn't that bad. Moreover, I found that basically every day of the festival, I only made the trek once. I ventured into the venue between 12:00 and 2:00, hung out there all day, then walked back to camp at the end of the night. So I had a 15-20 minute walk to start and end my day, which I think is great.

However, my problem with my campsite (which was also a problem for people in tent only) was that I missed out on some of the Triangle Stage action simply because I wasn't aware anything was going on there. I had some idea of what was going on (because of this forum), but since I wasn't forced to walk past the Triangle stage, I had to make an extra trek just to see if someone was playing there.
In retrospect, I could have just walked to the Triangle Stage at the end of each night. But at the time, we only had very sketchy details of what was going on.
Don't get me wrong - I absolutely LOVE the idea of surprise sets being played in the middle of the campgrounds. It is truly one of the elements that sets this festival apart. That being said, I think there were a lot of people in Car Camping 1 and Tent Only who had no idea those sets were going on. If Tent Only is supposedly the "preferred" camping option, why not make it the home of the Triangle Stage? Ya know, that way everyone can hit it up on their walk home, instead of having to make a separate trip.

TL;DR: The walk isn't bad, wherever you're camped. The Triangle Stage should be in Tent Only.

i seem to remember all of these RV's being at the top of the steep hill. hell of a climb up there at the end of the night, but seemed fairly flat once you got to the top.

Not sure how Forest Camping works. I kept meaning to take a stroll thru the area last year but never did. Last year the only area, and it was added late in the game, was the triangle shaped one on furthest left. From the FAQ "How big are the campsites? 205 sq ft. tent-camping / 205 sq ft forest camping". So that sounds to me like there is a designated rectangle marked out in the woods for each camp spot. Not sure tho. It looks like the grey "Parking" area is probably for Forest Camping. I guess you park and lug. Wondering where the Preferred Tent and the tent only parking is. That grey could be parking for all of it.

I had some dude stumble into our campsite one morning9-10ish while my bro in law was at the showers. He just stood there and stared, I tried to ask if he was ok, could I help him etc..... He just stared and was scoping out our stuff. We had a table between the 2 tents and I noticed him staring at my knife I was using to cook with so I picked it up trying not to make a big scene about it. I held it in my hand praying I would not have to use it. Dude stumbled off after about 5 minutes. We had no issues with looting though. That really sucks what happened to you long hair........folks like that don't belong out there. Scary with your GF there though!

Buddy, Where were you camped. We somebody come into our sites one morning also. He didn't say anything just stumbled and stared. He had an empty water bottle in his hand so we got him a fresh one and he drank a little then wandered off around one of our campers. When I went to check on him he was gone.

aside from my stuff being stolen, these are the first stories i'm hearing about anyone having any trouble with anybody else. i'm sorry to hear about these things. i hope it doesn't deter anyone reading them from coming. it's a great place to be.
