If you didn't pay the premium I understand your indifference. However, I did, and the single stage setup didn't work very well compared to 2014 and 2015. 2016 was marginally better than 2013 (with VIP viewing on either side of dual stage setup and absolutely no place to sit). At least in 2016 there were 10 or 12 chairs, 2 inches off the ground no where near the stage. Also access to (S)VIP in 2016 was better (no stumbling over teenagers fucking in the mud), but the view and sound was...less than what I paid for. Bill's absolutely right on this one. Our tickets cost at least $400 more per ticket (times 2). Frankly we are paying for an experience that they didn't quite deliver last year in some respects. This is info that they need to hear. I'm telling you without the sales of VIP tickets this festival doesn't happen at all so I'm all for making it the best experience for the most people but I want to get what I paid for as well. We can have both. This is not about VIP vs. GA. This is about delivering the experience that you sold.

I feel the same way as TOO when the features of VIP that I paid extra for were not delivered. The perks they did give at L3 did not make up for the failure--you can't drink $400 of free bottled water to make up for it. My complaints were in the camping facilities but I didn't go to L4 to comment on the show area set up.

I would say that if you think the exorbitant price they charge for VIP is not worth it then the answer is to not pay it. Not make everyone else's experience worse so that the VIP one is better in comparison.

I have a question based on this comment: is the only check point located at the main stage entrance? I'm specifically asking about from GA parking. Can I walk with beer from my car to anywhere (i.e. Blue Ridge Bowl, Garcia's forest, etc.) without having to dump out my beer except for when going to the main stage?
I know this is subject to change if the daytime music is at BRB- I could see them setting up a checkpoint if there isn't one now.

Yes. There is also a car search at arrival, at least for camping, but you can walk anywhere with your beer except main stage.

I did two VIP RV and two GA RV. Honestly I only did VIP for the short walk; the "perks" meant little or nothing, as I always sat with my proletarian friends in GA viewing. But I think because of the storm at L3 they made the big heavy bus type Class A's park outside the race track almost at BRB. That seemed to end the guarantee of paying big bucks for a short walk. Did GA RV at L4, and doing GA RV again this year.
PS: early Wednesday admission to GA RV means a long, long walk as well.

It wil be interesting to see how they configure the viewing areas at the BRB for the Bruce Hornsby show since they are selling VIP tickets for this event. I think that they are doing this to test the setup for VIP/GA areas at BRB at Lockn this year. I'm sure that no matter what they do that there will be plenty of outrage to go around

We did VIP RV in 2016 and Wed. early entry. Thing is, I'm getting old enough that I can afford VIP AND need the close proximity to the stage and camping area. I can't broil in GA (I also lack good equipment to do so) and I'm in front of the bands all day long so some temporary reprive from the heat is needed. That being said, to some other's point, the cost is pretty steep and Im not sure justifies what they are asking. I don't want GA attendees to suffer for my luxury, but if I'm forking over this kind of cash, I'd like a good return on my investment.
To your point, for me at least, is if I don't feel that investment is justified, I can't downgrade.. I'll just not go anymore which is a lose/lose for me and the promoters.

Suffered 100+ degrees for four straight days at Bonnaroo..... Thrice....... Lockn' will never be "hot"2) Charging for showers i thought was a very gauche considering the conditions. Additionally, they weren't always operational. I think they were out of order portions of Sat and Sun. It's a long festival and its going to be warm no matter the year, people need a chance to clean themselves up and shouldn't be charged $10 (I know, right!) for it. And if they do for some reason pay they should be working.
..... And you don't need a shower. Join the unwashed masses.

a solution for showers is to have outdoor open showers hooked up at the water stations and/or a well. Like they have at many beaches. You can wash off in a swim suit just fine. lots of people are doing that at the water stations anyway. But there needs to be mud management as well.

Took a shower on Saturday this year, was the first one I had ever taken at any festival before. Felt flat out re-born. Will probably make one per fest a habit going forward.

Agreed. I am far from a germaphobe, but watching a dirty hippie wash his balls where I am about to get water is...unsettling. Spend some time in the third world and you will quickly hold water management in high regard. The way to shower is fill up a jug and walk back to your site and poor it over your head, preferably while standing on grass.a solution for showers is to have outdoor open showers hooked up at the water stations and/or a well. The older I get the more that becomes necessary. When I did VIP All Good I'd take 2 some times in the day. Nothing energizes more, except for cocaine. So, my words on showers...all in GA, I don't know anything about VIP
L2-we took showers at the facilities. They were awful, about 3 drips. I don't mind paying, but not for this.
L3--we didn't take any showers at the facilities, brought a shower tent and did sponge baths/showers at the campsite. It worked, and this was a cool, wet year.
L4--we mostly did the showers at the campsite, but we did one shower at the shower trolley. Didn't get charged, for reasons that escape me. The problems w/ water pressure were fixed and this was wonderful. Campsite showers work, but nowhere near as refreshing as this...will plan at least 1 of these/year.

VIP showers seldom worked either at L2 and L3, except in the RV area where they weren't used much. But at L2 there was a big well water source with about 5 spigots just outside the trailers. That was the lifesaver and served well for interim hosing off, and took a lot of pressure off the trailers. That's why I suggested them, but to Kuritis' point, a little sanitation design would help. It's like everything else outdoors: the sytem can handle a few people but not a thousand people, doing the same thing.
