Super VIP

Even in "gated community" some fruit loop, trippin balls, decided to help himself to the view from the roof of my camper. LOL, I had to protect him from my wife...she was PISSED! Then some wookie tried to set up his camp 5 feet from my buddies rig. They could probably use more security in VIP.

well, i got my backpack stolen and all my coolers rifled through. my dumbass left my backpack just outside my tent. dont ask me why. im a dumbass. as far as them going through all my alcohol, consuming half of it, and pouring the rest of it back into my cooler, i can't really comment on that. i wouldn't concern myself too much with this stuff. you'll probably be fine. and if you are one of the unlucky few, it's still just stuff.

VIP is worth every penny. That said, I can not imagine paying all of that extra for SVIP. I talked to SVIP people last year and the acoustic sets were not that long and hard to hear. With it looking like there are other late night options this year it makes SVIP even less desirable. In VIP RV camping last year it was like having the bands play in your front yard. You could listen at the camper and be inside with no hassle in minutes. It is expensive, but we save for it. I really do not understand why anyone has to call promoters scum, or VIP a gated community. If people will pay the price then people will charge you. Have any of you being critical ever stood in line for a $10 balloon. Now that is outrageous. It is all going to be fun and to each there own.

Sneake, what I could do with $1200?! Believe me if I could get the extra time off work I would do multiple festivals. I would spread the money out & do as many as I could. But with time for one & a couple of years out of the loop I'm going all in. Now next year will be different.
Worf I know what you mean by the gated community. At least in ADA you can have visitors & help them out with a close hangout. I assume like most fests I will not be able to do this in VIP. Kind of a bummer. But the whole prefered seating at concerts & vip at festivals is has gotten out of control. I think we can all thank Ticketmaster for starting all of this. I'll have to visit your camp & maybe start doing the same thing next year.

People seem to think I'm coming down on them for going VIP. It's your money, do what you like with it. But yes, I'm a little resentful that for the already exorbitant sum I'm shelling out for tickets, camping option, supplies and travel that I can only get so close to the stage. I just think that it's sad that this option has to exist. I'm sure the promoters would say that it's ensure that they make enough money to put the show on next year, and that may even be true, but since I'll never get to see their books, I have no way of knowing for sure.

Even if I started saving last year after Lockn', I couldn't afford VIP (and I still wouldn't, out of principle). I'm saddened to read some of these replies that say things like, "Hey, if they have the money, why not spend it?" I suppose that's valid, but it also smacks of, "Hey, if you don't have the money, there must be a good reason." Well, my good reason is I'm freaking disabled. What, exactly, did I do to deserve that? What sin did I commit that relegates me to coming no closer to the stage than the soundboard?

Ya know, if this was a different festival, I'd probably have less objections. But like I said in another post, this scene used to be about inclusiveness. If you're going VIP/SVIP, fine. I have no issue with you personally, I just think it's sad that we have to have this tiered system. Think of it this way: I don't trust the US Congress any further than I could kick it (and polling indicates you likely agree), but I'm sure that my Congressman is a nice guy who loves his family and cares about things. It's possible to criticize the system without badmouthing the individual participants.

Ugh! When did this festival get to be about the "haves" and the "have nots"?!?!? Can't we all just get along and get back to talking about the music instead of talking about money?

Am I missing something about the GA not being able to get close to the stages? It sounds like the assumption is that the VIP/SVIP areas will be blocking GA, but maybe I haven't read enough topics. I assumed when I read the special areas would be centered in front of the stages, that they meant in that area right between the two stages where the fencing was, not blocking the entire front. Are there facts I have overlooked on this?

That brings up a question on a couple of things. They say SVIP has the VIP amenities + the following, then have the center / front of stage viewing area. So are they going have 2 areas which will take more room? Also they have discounted wine & beer. Is SVIP going to get it cheeper than VIP?

Oh hell, I'm only 5'4, I'm going SVIP then. Riding on peoples shoulders all day at a show is the business.
