Did the SVIP last year and it was awesome. What I found best about the SVIP upgrade: Access to SVIP raised platform viewing areas, Catered meals (lunch, dinner, late night) all four days; Golf cart taxi service throughout the grounds (I got bad knees, this was great); SVIP tent area was much nicer than the VIP tent area as it was larger, had many sofas, and included A/C flushable bathrooms; and of course the late night acoustic sets (although I did miss Warren's set because he played during the 2nd Cheese set Thursday night and I just couldn't miss the String Cheese. My read on the SVIP upgrade is the total SVIP cost is $1200, so the cost to upgrade will be $1200 - $VIP paid = $cost of upgrade. If you paid $600 for VIP the upgrade to SVIP will be $600 more for a total of $1200. If I'm wrong and it's $1200 additional on top of VIP($600), that would be crazy. The SVIP upgrade amenities are not worth an additional $1200, but an additional $600 could be worth it. What's missing from last years SVIP is no mention of Golf Cart Taxi service included. I really like the Golf cart service last year. Going to have to weigh the pros and cons here carefully. zspoff brings up a good question. I thought I would start a new thread for super vip questions. I bought the vip ticket & plan to upgrade to super vip. What do you get extra? Is your campsite closer? I read where last year they took away getting in on Wednesday & open bar thanks to the law. Also how much more $ did the ask for last year? Thanks for any input.

as far as i understand, both of those things were out of their control. granted, they should not promise things unless they know for sure they can deliver. as you mentioned, the free alcohol had something to do with some awful va law (this state blows). the not letting people in on wed, from what i understand, had something to do with the permit situation. as an alternative, they set up a special place just outside the vip gates where you could pitch a tent and camp for the night. i know it's not the best, but i'm sure it beat sitting in a car starting at the wee hours of the morning like i did.
i'm seriously considering going VIP for this. i've never done vip at any fest, and this one certainly promises to be the highlight of my year. i wonder if i can upgrade my regular ticket...

I've definitely mulled VIP as well.
The biggest perk?
Obviously the exclusive acoustic show(s) for VIP patrons.
I missed out last year, but from what I saw, VIP patrons were treated to an awesome show and I was totally jealous.

VIP is awesome and in my opinion well worth the money. We stay in the RV section. VIP and SVIP camp together. The RV section is behind the Local tent and I could set at my RV and listen to music like I was listening to my stereo in my living room. We heard every note played last year including morning sound checks. From the VIP RV section you can be at the front of the stage in your VIP viewing area in less than 5 minutes, and that includes stopping to get a beer. The VIP tent is beside the Local tent and the SVIP tent is to the right of the stage. From Friday through Sunday you could get $3.00 drafts in each tent. They will not let you in the SVIP tent with a VIP badge. Both have late night munchies but they go quick. The SVIP is where they did the late night special concerts. Warren one night, Bobby & Phil,one night and Jorma one night. They also fixed dinner for SVIP each afternoon. I was camped next to a SVIP. VIP is also pretty quite at night and in the morning. Highly recommend. I do not think SVIP gets you side stage, but they do have risers for them. Very lax patdowns coming in through Local tent.

The SVIP last year was great. I was camping in an RV just behind the local tent. Since I have a walking and standing issue, this made this show great. The SVIP had a two raised areas where I could get a great view of the stage and not have to stand. The late night shows were really cool. The food in the SVIP tent was pretty good, sure was nice not to have to cook in my camper. This year the VIP RV camping went up 500.00. It was a big nut to have to eat, but I still went ahead and did it. Hopefully I can get a friend or two to camp with my to split the cost. Depending on the cost of SVIP, I may do this again as well. This is my one big fest of the year, so I figure what the hell. This year I was on a mission to pay for this with scrap recycling. So far I have recycled enough to cover my vip ticket.

well, let's see... 5 bucks cheaper per beer at 20 or so beers over the weekend. that's a hundred bucks right there automatically taken off the price of a vip ticket. at an extra $450 for vip, if i drank 90 beers in 4 days, vip would basically be free... CHALLENGE ACCEPTED

Now that is my way of looking at things. They have not given a price for SVIP yet. I contacted CID and was told it should be about the same as last year. 400 more. One thing I did not put in the prior post about the RV camping from last year. They only charged 100.00 and I know they had to have lost money. The provided power for all of us. The cost to rent those quit generators and the fuel to run for 4 days. I expected the cost to at least double this year. I was really glad I did the rv thing and will be doing it for many years to come. I am so excited about this fest. Last year I came alone and met a lot of great people. This year I have a few friends that are thinking of coming. The music was amazing last year. 400 more than that $700 vip? yikes. i'm also incredibly excited about this year. and i met some really cool people last year. the guys i was camping next to were from boston and we ended up joining our camp spaces together into one big chill area. we still text greetings once in awhile. glad to have such good neighbors.

Thanks to everyone for input on this. 400 more, wow. But I will manage for the extra. Also my first fest since Electric Forest 2011. Been waiting & saving for this. Would have gone to Lockn last year, but health reasons keep me at home, so I'm ready, ready, ready. I'll go for that beer challenge Sneake. Sounds like my wife, spend money to save.

Thanks for the info Franklin. You make this look better & better. Do you still get access to the viewing area by the stage. Someone else mentioned that SVIP got the platform instead of the up front access, which does not sound right to me. But no matter this sounds great.

Yes, SVIP had access to both the platform and up-front stage areas. It did not have access to the on stage scaffolding viewing areas. That area was for those who had backstage access.

Could anyone provide a breakdown of what the viewing areas were like for normal VIP ticketholders? Is it a good view, but back a bit, or up front? Any help would be greatly appreciated!

There's supposed to be raised platforms for ADA, too. Are they shared with VIP? Anyone see any obviously gimpy people that didn't look like they could afford VIP? I'm worried that VIP gets whichever one's on the side of the stage that's playing, and we get the other.

Last year, the VIP had kind of a triangle area on half of each stage. The middle up front was for GA. Kind of a strange setup. Had to go out and around after each band changed. My drawing is not really up to scale. Hope you get the idea.

Only a portion of the rail is VIP. GA has access to the rail as well. But keep this in mind. On the rail at one stage is not the best sight line for the other stage. I think VIP were to the outside but I don't remember. There is a no access area between the stages that they run the snake from stage to soundboard. So you can't just slide over. If you want to be up front for the next show you have to go out around the soundboard and up to the front on the other side. Choose wisely. I prefer to be back a bit where it isn't as crowded and the sight lines are good for both stages.

The above diagram is the way it was last year. However, the VIP ticket page this year says that VIP will be CENTERED in front of the stages. So hopefully it will be a little different set up this year. I talked to CID today and they said between 2 and 3 weeks before they announce the SVIP package.

I believe there was a separate ADA raised platform viewing area. I was expecting 600, but 1200 on top of the 599 I have paid already. Don't think that will happen. VIP camping went up 500 as well. No svip for me. 2400 for the two of us, no way.

That's nuts. I am a GA guy all the way this fest but I think that is so much that it will greatly hurt the sales of SVIP. Way out of line with the market and I can't imagine there will be much demand at those prices.Looks like a 1200.00 upgrade to SVIP. I think i'll stick to just regular VIP, that's nuts.

Just got an e-mail back from CID. I had asked about the field viewing area and cost of svip.
"Thanks for reaching out to us! As of now, the only Super VIP viewing area
confirmed is the one that is directly in front of the stage. That being said,
this was also the case last year, and we were still able to creat additional
viewing areas at the festival. Thus, they could very well set-up those two
raised areas in the back for SVIPs, but I can't confirm it at the moment.
As for the SVIP pricing - it's 1200 on top of the 599 you already paid. The
reason for this raised pricing is because the SVIP program is much smaller and
intimate than the VIP program. Furthermore, the private SVIP sets very much
factor into that pricing."
