The top of the hill on Oak Ridge has a good breeze, you get twice as much space, it's quiet at night and roughly equally distant walk, but with generally less traffic. Also it was close to the RVs last year which meant drop in's on many of the folks on here were easy. As has been documented here, I prioritize sleep. Once I get sufficiently sleep deprived, nothing is fun for me. Just depends on your priorities, horses for courses and all.

Funny you should mention sleep. I can usually do without much sleep in a festival setting but last weekend at Roosterwalk my body was shutting down so I went to bed at 7:30 pm Saturday night and slept for 14 hours straight! #NoShameInMyGame #DamnThatFeltGood. Takeaway is listen to your body if it is telling you to slow down, sleep, cool down, whatever, just do it, you won't regret it...

I know...missing those shows sucked but I would not have been having a good time OR I would have been asleep in my chair while these were happening. In the end I made the right choice. Sunday I felt so damn good it should be against the law and I was back in the game.

In the past two years, Lockn HQ started selling Wednesday tickets about 2 weeks before Lockn. RVs waiting to get in Wednesday were queued up in three or four parallel lines up by the oak tree. When the line you are in moves, you stop to show your ticket and see the security people. For me, they just glanced in the RV both years for a few seconds, but others have had more thorough checks.

Last year on Weds the FB LFF group were parked in the little northern high field section right next to the path leading to the venue. Short walk, but the field rolls off a ridge and the people parked closest to the venue had to get very creative with leveling their rig. One trailer near the path must have had 18 inches of boards under his downhill wheel. I parked about 100 yards away near the security tower and had a good, almost level spot. Most of the main food and beer vendors are now inside the venue field, which is closed Weds night and Thursday morning, so make sure you have food. I think some vendors might have been selling some food near Garcias in a limited way Weds night/Thursday morning.

We got there early early on Thurs morning and got placed right next to greenfield RV. It was literally a 35 second walk to the main event gates from our camp site. I'm hoping they do the same this year as well it's sooo nice not having to walk 20 minutes to get to the main stage. Either way we'll prolly bring bikes this year!

I did this last year, and it was hilarious. I was one of THREE people who did it.

Because of this:

1) No one had any idea where I was to go. One person said I had to park outside in day parking and walk all the way in with my stuff (1/2 a mile?). I ended up getting one guy to let me camp about 100 feet away from my spot.
2) It was lonely AF. There was no one to talk to, no one to comiserate with, nada.
3) It was quiet AF. No problems sleeping at all.

If I were you, and I want vibes, just do the normal TO camping.
