Personally I prefer the metal detectors. I don't think it takes any longer and usually the metal detectors are in place of the intrusive pat down and security guard of the year candidates.

I think I know that supervisor. She got my sunscreen flask. The next night gave me the hairy eyeball, but they missed the real flask in my crotch--despite a younger guards rub-down there (I resisted the temptation to go keep looking! Keep looking! warmer--warmer--colder--colder). I was so elated to get through that I did a two-step jig and the damn thing fell out on the ground but I recovered it.

It's just all in the game.

As for metal detectors I'm sure they can set them to let small metal through (coins, pens, bras, etc) but pick up something as dense as a handgun.

That supervisor was mean as all hell. Hopefully she got a promotion and is behind the desk now. Given her heroic efforts to keep the devils lettuce off the field on the last day of the fest.

and wow, a decoy flask trick. That is genius. As for detectors, I've never had an issue bringing pens through metal detectors

My pro tip that I shared with my buddies as we went through the metal detector at the Dark Star Orchestra show at Red Rocks on Sunday, put the pinch hitter and vape pen under your belt buckle. Then if it goes off, attribute said event to that dam pesky buckle.

Reminds me of a legendary CSN&Y show 1973 at Foreman Field where the searchers made everyone throw their beer away in this one 55 gallon drum. At the end of the show, there was a guy outside the gate selling beer from a 55 gallon drum....

I like to put a big clear plastic bottle of rum or vodka in my sink.they always go right to it and think they have me until they go to confiscate and it’s plastic.kind of throws them off a bit.we all get a good laugh and then they know I know the rules.

I agree. Here is a protip for if you manage to succeed in smuggling booze and don't want to share it with your friends who don't want to spend $15.50 a beer. When asked "What's that your drinking?" Answer "It's powdered Sunny D drink mix and crotch temperature 100 proof vodka." It's shocking how many people hate Sunny D.
