Regarding beer, I heard today that the most popular beer is now Mich Ultra. Amazing what the general public will go to. Calling it "beer" is like calling green tea "expresso." Although the article didn't say, I think Bud Lite and Coors Light are at the top, sometimes outselling their "heavy" counterparts.
Strange balance to the universe, as flavorful and interesting craft beer sales go up, so does Ultra's, the lightest of the lite, as well as other light beers.
Well, no one ever went broke underestimating the taste of the American public.

Perhaps--I was thinking about the craft beer exchange aspect of the M&G.
BTW I just had one of my few remaining beers from the exchange this weekend; I always try to hide them from myself and bring them home, and recall the good place and people when enjoying them later.
This time, I was trying to grind out a broken screw extractor from inside a broken-off bolt on a motor, which primarily entails alternating between beer and calling oneself stupid, so it helped carry me off to fonder times. Was a Michigan ale, IIRC.

At a local bar featuring craft beers, the urinals are made out of Bud kegs.
Which speaks to the old saying, "An Irishman is a device for converting Guinness to Budweiser."
Some breweries put Mich Ultra or Coors Light taps or signage on the water fountains.

I think a good comprehensive drinking strategy can include the light beers. I start off with 2-3 good beers and then switch over.
And if I'm going to be doing real long haul drinking (like at lockn), stay away from the good beers all together and stick to the watery stuff.

I dunno, I find Budweiser superior to those imports in every way. Tens of millions Americans seem to agree.

It becomes about reaching a buzz and then maintaining it. I'm not sure that would maintain, and I'm also not sure my alcoholism would allow it. Once I start its really hard to take breaks.
