I am shocked. Shocked to find out there may have been marijuana at a festival featuring jambands, bluegrass and country-rock! That's the rural South for ya. Hell, the rural North, too.

I'm not sure if I can make the trip out from Idaho if there are things like this.........Phish at MSG, SCI everywhere....WSP....people have always drank water only and sang kumbaya in the parking lots....i can't believe there are law breakers ;-)

As a Virginia resident, I am not surprised at all. I was actually surprised they even chose to hold the festival here because of how zealous Virginia can be about alcohol, drugs, and the like.
Anyone concerned about a crackdown?

The problem is when your around so many like minded people it's easy to let you're guard down. You just want to enjoy the moment. If everyone is a little more discreet you should be ok.

From the article: Layman has 15 years of experience and has made more than 100 drug-related arrests.
That's only ~7 arrests a year. I don't think officer Layman is very good at his job.

Just wow!!!!! I only saw or heard one incident the whole weekend that was even close to being a fight or belligerent person. It was very late at night and some chick was cussing security because they would not let her cut through the concert grounds. Other than that, it was very peaceful. I wonder how many rapes, murders, assaults, robberies etc..... They could have investigated in Richmond alone over these 4 days?
That would take some real police work though. They'd rather get 25k hippies in a field listening to music and uncover some are smoking pot!!!!! Great police work. After the concert the police took a day off to go fishing. They lined up 10 55 gallon barrels, filled them with fish and then shot them to death. Frey and Shapiro should sing their new song this year: "shakedown on shakedown street". They are being fleeced by the state sponsored mafia.......we need laws to protect us from the law!!!

No matter what we all think or believe in it is the law & we are visitors. It's also about the venders selling beer to underage people. They need to be more careful about that. That being said it's sad that they have undercover police running around with video cameras. It's not like we are driving around town hanging out the windows drinking & smoking causing trouble. But I think they are going after the venders where the $$ is. Like I said before we just need to be a little discreet & I guess watch for video cameras pointed at you.

It is private property and my understanding is that the police were not invited on property. A friend of mine is friends with the a local deputy. I did not see any cops on property at all once I got parked. I did see some on the outskirts of a lot near the triangle, but they were still off property. My guess is it was ABC agents that were undercover.

there were DEFINITELY cops patrolling the camping area. i talked to several of them. most of them were on horses.

I didn't see any cops in the VIP tent area last year but i'm sure they were around somewhere. That many stinky hippies in one area it's a guarantee that there's cops lurking about

Since Lockn' is not a restaurant, there should be no problem.
Hey we tried to cut local businesses in on the windfall, but if you insist, we can totally bring our own food and drink. And spit right in your eye. Think about it.

Bafoon would much rather us been the out of control drug crazed heathens he had us made out to be in his closed mind. 1 drunk lady in 4 days is all I saw......and she came FROM the campground that way and was trying to cut through as I said above. BTW....I did see a sherif car when that was happening but she was not arrested. I thought I saw a bunch of ALE guys by the super VIP tent entrance one night. There are real crimes happening somewhere. Much to Bafoon's shagrin, we have proven to be no danger to society around those parts. Someone who likes the tax money we bring to that region needs to tell these over zealous Barney Fife's to stand down. They just don't want us around.
