I think my question has been addressed in one of the travel threads, or possibly in some random spot when a discussion got "off topic" (What?!), but since I haven't been able to locate it...who has traveled old Route 66 and do you have any recommendations, tips, etc. Also, did you purchase any of the guides that have the old maps and history of the drive? We are picking up our daughter's car in SF & then hitting the road to drive back to VA. Daughter #2 lives in Albuquerque, so we will visit there & take in the balloon festival. Considering stopping in Nashville or any place that strikes us at the time. Counting on being gone around 3 weeks or so.

I drove it from OK City to LA but that was when I was 18, so....but it was a great trip--just another friend and I, spring break Senior year high school. We had good parents

As Mrs. Moose's DNA is about 75% Scandinavian, we've decided for our next family excursion we oughta poke around that region of the world. Based on where we've traced her ancestral roots, we've narrowed our destination cities down to Stockholm and Gothenburg in Sweden, as well as Aarhus and Copenhagen in Denmark.

Our biggest concern is that she has limited vacation time due to starting a new job, so we only have 7 or 8 nights to work with.

Is anyone here familiar with these areas that can recommend how many nights we should devote to each city? Factors include that we will have our kids (age 12 and 10), my wife loves anything related to living history, and my biggest travel goal these days is photography (landscapes and architecture primarily).

The last day of the trip is reserved for Tivoli Gardens in Copenhagen.

Would definitely welcome any suggestions.

I rented a car in Ireland last year so we could see more scenery. But in addition to having to quickly adjust to driving on the "wrong" side of the road, I could swear the driving lanes there are considerably less wide than what I am used to here. So watching the scenery go by wasn't really an option as I was just using all of my focus to not crash.

After that I decided that when traveling internationally, it is worth it to hire someone else to drive.
