What a grand adventure ahead! I lived in Aarhus for a year after college and the Danes are some of the most kind, friendly people out there (the fiance less so, but I digress). While most of my info is outdated, I'm hoping you'll find your way to some of the numerous deer parks and spend some time with the pastoral. Tivoli is great, check the online schedule, maybe you'll be able to catch some good music while there. There are some very cool museums also featuring Viking heritage, that might be interesting. Arhus and Copenhagen have a very comprehensive bus and tube system that's easy to manage with a map, so if you don't have a car, you'll be ok.

Thank you all for your advice. The trip is now booked and we have taken heed to your suggestions:

Smosey, we have booked a train to take us from Stockholm to Copenhagen for maximum scenery enjoyment. We definitely plan to hit the ice bar and it's great to know kids are allowed.

Vinnie, our hotel is right in the middle of the city in Copenhagen so we should be able to see/do as much as possible without too much hassle.

Andie, there is no way our daughter will let us miss one of the deer parks in Aarhus. She will be in heaven if she gets to interact with deer. And great to know about the bus and tube system--we will definitely be utilizing that.

It was a major aspect of the popularity of my HS exchange program, where we could go across the street during study hall for a bier. But it wasn't my first bier!

BTW it's the longest running direct high school exchange in the world now.

If I can suggest...take a bit of that time in Salzburg for day trips to places like Hallstatt (bone chapel is so rock and roll), Dachstein (ice caves, man), or Konigssee

...I was a bit bored by Salzburg (though the salt mine was fun!)

Take the tram to Prague Castle. Tour St. Vitus Cathedral. Walk down and see the John Lennon Wall . Cross the Charles Bridge into Old Town Prague. See the Astronomical Clock. Walk the back streets of Old Town. You can do this in a day if you want. Visit the monastery and drink beer at the brewery.

I can connect them with an awesome tour guide if they are interested. Very friendly, knowledgeable, fun to hang out with and very inexpensive. He spent the whole day with us when we went to Kutna Hora for like $100. Well worth it!
