Well I did it. Today marks a significant milestone in my journey to become a full-fledged biped again. I completed crushed my 12th and final session of PT. It's been a long journey and this day is one that I've had my sights on since my surgery. I'm feeling awesome and I have a great sense of accomplishment. First I was focused on not re-injuring myself. Next was on my recovery. I knew that this day would come but at times it seemed so far away. I worked very hard to get back on my feet for LOCKN in June. I was ready but it would have been very hard on me. Someone suggested that I alter my behavior and maybe take it easy on myself. Sorry, that's not in my DNA. In the end it worked out better for me that LOCKN didn't happen last weekend. I'll be ready for LOCKN in October. I'm not sure LOCKN will be ready for me.

Anyway, thanks for playing along at home. I think I'll go to one of my happy places, Ocracoke Island, NC for a week to celebrate. Pics to follow...

This will be my final post to this thread as it marks the end of this chapter of my life. I had a follow up visit with my ortho doc today. He said that my hardware was still in place and that I was doing great. He wants to see me in a year, fantastic news! If one or both of the screws in my ankle breaks they will go in and remove them but barring that unlikely scenario I should be good to go. The screws in my ankle are due to the extreme ligament damage. The xrays on the left are from Feb. 10, 4 days before my surgery. The asssessment then was displaced trimalleolar equivalent right ankle fracture with right distal fibula fracture with significant widening of medial clear space and syndesmosis. Also has nondisplaced posterior malleolus fracture.

Today was also the first time that I had been to my office in over five months. Weird setting an alarm, dressing for work and commuting with the rest of the folks still going in to the office. The working in the office part is likely just temporary and due to a software rollout at work this week.

Those pre-op x-rays make me hurt. Looks they fixed you up good, though. Just keep the stumbling to a minimum from now on.
