You are right, that surgery was a BF deal. I've never been through anything like that. I had an amazing teams of doctors and nurses that made me feel very informed,relaxed and comfortable with all parts of the process. My team functioned like a well-oiled machine. They gave me a nerve block below my knee which helps greatly with the pain but that wears off today or tomorrow. I'm totally focused on my rehab now. Glad that I could help you guys out in some small way

TOO, after the 60 days of assal horizontology, you will absolutely fall in love with the Darth Vader boot they give you after that. I guarantee it. Watch your diet, and try not to drink too much - the inactivity is brutal on your system. I'm sure you won't balloon up the way I did*, but the potential for weight gain is less than ideal.

This is sadly all too correct. If Vickie gets to the point she needs to commiserate, have her contact Sue.

*I had never broken a bone before, much less a joint, and having no basis for comparison I didn't know the pain I was experiencing after the initial surgery was not normal. People always tell you,"With a broken ankle, you're never back to 100%." so I hobbled around for the better part of a year and a half before getting another x-ray and opinion.
