We have a long-time local DJ named Mike Arlo who plays this on the FM radio every Thanksgiving at noon.

Our family is pretty non-conventional and mostly non-traditional but we still celebrate Thanksgiving and Christmas. I do listen to Alice's Restaurant each year on turkey day and when the wife and kids hear it come on they groan and roll their eyes. I have given up trying to impress one of my traditions on them. I will continue to listen to it around them and maybe one day they will pause and listen to it with me. They will likely listen to it when I'm gone to remember me by.

I mean my crew sincerely needs to re-evaluate themselves. They don't even think that Die Hard is a Christmas movie

...

Me, too. That and "Uneasy Rider" and "The Cremation of Sam McGee"; the latter I was prepared to recite in full at a recent camping trip but mercifully for many in attendance it didn't get on the set list.

We play this each year too. Kids now sing along. Working on the grandkids for the last few years. They all struggle with the Significance of the Pickle.
