Brawndo: it's like shaving your chest with a lawnmower! that sounds dangerous, but it's not more dangerous than drinking BRAWNDO because drinking BRAWNDO is like riding a pony, which probably sounds not dangerous except that the pony is 300 feet tall and covered in chainsaws! and to get on the pony, you have to take an elevator filled with 16 live cougars, which is an actual sport in latin america, which is extremely fun, but not as fun as BRAWNDO because BRAWNDO is like driving an ice cream truck full of angry bees through a petting zoo, which is a great way of becoming popular if you want to become popular with LAW ENFORCEMENT but if you don't, you should still drink BRAWNDO because BRAWNDO will make you use your fists for everyday tasks, like watching tv or romance or helicopter maintenance! it will also make you more awesome at english, which means you can use apostrophes whenever 'you w'an't to', even in words like 'nuclear', which don't even have an apostrophe yet!

Agreed. Pedialyte is great. Changing it up a bit this year. Usually get the thicker chocolate kind. This year I went with the Pedialyte Advance Care Plus. More like Gatorade in consistency, berry flavors, heavy on electrolytes. 

mix with water? why not just set up the drip? Then a mixologist such as myslef might come along and make the cherry number into an old fashioned or the blue one--reminicescent of Curacao, into a Blue Hawaii.

Seriously, when I was running the grain parties in college (W&L late 70's), if things were getting slow, I'd dump in a few cans of powdered Gatorade into the trash can and it was like an IV; got that house jumpin'!

Just a quick note of thanks to whoever mentioned the essential salts/electrolyte tablets on amazon. I didn’t do a double blind study, but Dryw and I popped those throughout the days and both agreed we felt better than we had any right to given our behavior. Highly recommend even if they are a placebo.

The Dollar Tree is a great place to get festival goodies. The straw hat I wear is from the Dollar Tree and if it gets crushed/stolen/eaten by goats what have you, I get another one for $1!

I have been to every lockn since 2016 and i just wanted to share some links for a few essential items that have significantly improved my experience-in hopes that its helpful to anyone new to this event and wondering what to bring. I camp a lot and so investing in these items has been a good call for me- maybe they will help you out as well!

*Looks small and inefficient right? I would have never bought this had my mother in law not shown me how crucial it is to have. Its less than $20, quiet, and really cools down your tent allowing you to actually stay in your tent past 7 am and catch some extra Zzzs. Another pro: You can bring it into the stage grounds and use it to cool down during those crispy day sets

*I know, its a $30 cup. BUT! It keeps your whatever you're drinking ice cold for hours. I use it for my coffee in the mornings, (keep the lid off or you wont get to drink your coffee for 3 hours til it cools down) I am also not into blowing up my credit cards with pricey concert beers- and thats exactly what i had to do before i purchased this because my beer would get hot in seconds so i had to practially chug it everytime i got one. This tumbler keeps my beer ice cold so that i can sip on IPA's and not be completely trashed by noon- and i'm really about pacing myself duirng the day so I can really get the full late night experience. Most of the beer tents at Lockn even allowed me to just hand them my cup to fill it to conserve disposable plastics- double win.

*Please bring a reusable water jug- your number 1 priority is to stay hydrated- i've seen so many people carried out of pits from not drinking water. Fill this bad boy up and you're set for a long while. Also, if you see someone that needs water, please please please go get them some water, the heat is really no joke in VA.

*I have this exact one- its a great blanket to lay down for your spot- its heavy so it doesn't bunch up as you're dancing- and it stands up to dirt and mud and anything you're up against in there. The lightweight standard tapestries make me crazy, and usually end up in sad messy pile after a few minutes. Not this one, it stays put.

*In my experience last year, they really enforced the clear back pack rule pretty hard- i brought this one and it was perfect, light weight and held my sunscreen and sunglasses,cell phone and hoodie for when it gets cold at night. I have a small first aid kit i carry as well because i don't wanna deal with medical tents for a band aid. I threw a ton of stickers on mine- my friends put LED string lights in theirs, which was really fun at night.

*I camp with my husband and his family each year but my family and friends are always around- i like to load up beers and snacks to go venture over to their campsites and its a breeze with teh back pack cooler. You'll use it outside of festivals all the time, especially if you have kids. I think its worth the $30.
