FloydFest 22 ~Heartbeat~ July 27-31, 2022

Road is muddy. Great.Hope they do something about it. Tell them Kentucky Ruckus boys that Steve Jones says "hell yea brother!".

I guess it didn't happen because there aren't any pics. Margarita Happy Hour at Jonesville? That didn't happen either, but it sure was fun...

We arrived about 9:20 am on Wednesday. It rained for the first two hours of our 2-1/2 hour trip and began to clear up just before we arrived. There were maybe 2 or 3 RVs and about ten cars in front of us. When it was my turn to be parked the guy asked if I had 4WD and I said Yes! He said the best, flattest spots are all the way at the end on top of the hill, if you can make it. I said I can make it, no problem. So glad I put new tires on my truck last week as the road was already a muddy soupy mess but I had no issues. Got to my spot and got set up before the next wave of rain. Love it when a plan comes together. As I'm setting up endless summer rolls in next to me. Just after that my friends from Richmond showed up and camped right behind me and some other friends from Lynchburg were camped two spots over. this is going to be great! I'm almost certain that ~Electric~ was camped across from me. I saw a Tesla and what I believe was a Starlink antenna but we never connected. Retired Janitors of Idaho , I'm not sure where he was but looseankles , smosey wales and lobster were all camped in car camping, along with my kids.



Mrs. TOO wasn't arriving until Wed. night and with little to no cell service I couldn't really help her get checked in or find our camp. I got a text from her that said "it's a total shitshow here and I'm at the showers". I left the show field and hopped on the shuttle bus to Delta. The bus got as far as it could until we hit a mega long line of cars trying to get in and it reminded me of the "field of broken dreams" that I've heard about. We hopped off of the bus and had to walk the last 3/4 mile to get in. There was a rental rv stuck in the mud with two tractors hooked to it pulling it out which backed up everyone. Anyway I found Vickie having cocktails with friends a couple of sites over so life was good. They brought in a bunch of gravel the next day which really helped out the road.

Things got better the next day. Roads were greatly improved, rain that was supposed to come didn't, temps were in the 70s to low 80s. Life was good. Saw some good bands, saw some great bands, hung out with lots of friends old and new. I'm loving the life that I live and glad that so many of you are a part of that!

Lots of folks left early Sunday because of an impending monsoon but we just packed up our outside setup and went in to hear music. Had one torrential downpour, a code red, and that was it. Nest year we will be at the new location with its own speedbumps and hurdles but we'll figure that out TOO...

I had fun.

As soon as I got home, I bought tickets to see the Kitchen Dwellers again when they play Charlottesville in October.  Montana’s finest progressive new grass.  Billy Strings played with them July 4.

I believe Daniel Donato’s Cosmic Country is touring with the Kitchen Dwellers this fall. That will be an awesome night of music! 

What a great weekend! I was concerned about the weather and having a camping fest newbie, but everything went smoother than I had expected. I will add some pics when I can, actually got a couple decent shots for once.

Thanks for the hospitality TOO, I got a couple shots of the margarita hour. So, perhaps it did happen.

I enjoyed meeting Amber and hanging out with you all and am so glad the weather behaved; I was worried for the sake of a new comer and y'all's experience.  Now I hope we'll see more of you two!
