First Billy K out for Playin in the Sand and now the word is Mayer has Covid and won't be playing. Curious to see how they handle this. No word of cancellation yet so they nay be working on subs. Jay Lane could play drums as he did in CO. Maybe they call up John Kadleick on geetar.

John K. has COVID too I believe, I saw it on Melvin Seals page I think. Without Mayer, they’d have to cancel, it’d be too big of a bait & switch I feel. However if they did go ahead with a replacement Kadlecik would’ve been my choice, followed by Kimock or Karan for a RatDog Reunion w/ Jay Lane on the skins. I do t think Warren would risk it with his Jamaica stuff coming up & don’t know who else is big enough to fill in… can’t see Trey doing it either.

Today, just prior to leaving for Mexico, per his physician, @johnmayer tested positive for COVID-19 and will be unable to perform at the upcoming “Playing in the Sand” event in Riviera Cancun January 7-10.
The weekend will now feature Dos Hermanos con Amigos: @mickeyhart and @bobweir with @jeffchimentimusic and @oteil_Burbridge, joined by @luvrzlane, Tom Hamilton @trhjunior and including special guests and sit ins including @missmargoprice and others.

Tom Hamilton is a solid choice. What’s funny is I heard Mayer was out as early as last week. Then… they offered refunds, reassured everyone that he was playing, tried to sell more packages & now at the last minute, Mayer pulls out… seems a little suspect to me.

could easily be better, musically. Depends on whether you are a fan or a music lover. I don't think there is anything suspect but there are contract considerations of which few of us are privy; it's not like rearranging a dinner party.Tom Hamilton is a solid choice. JK had it about two weeks ago IIRC so he may be out of the woods.John K. has COVID too I believe,... can’t see Trey doing it either.
Phish is already booked into Cancun so he'd be out. i know they are holding their breath anyway and wouldn't risk it. NYE was hard enough.

Some in the business say DeadCo is a corporate endeavor that features a band. That's not to say that the music and performances aren't good; it's more about the reason for existence.

Don't get me wrong, I absolutely think this band is getting better and better on stage. I just think this is def a sour taste that I won't soon forget.

I agree the band has been killing it on stage. I just think that this could be the beginning of the end. Most of the other post-Jerry iterations including members have lasted about 5 years. The Other Ones, Further, The Dead, and now D&C? Don't get me wrong, I absolutely think this band is getting better and better on stage. I just think this is def a sour taste that I won't soon forget.
And the sour taste is spot on.

Wow. This act has always been a boondoggle, but this takes the cake. "Uh, we're here already and this snow-bird vacation isn't gonna pay for itself!" And then letting it go until the 59th minute of the eleventh hour. Holy guac.
