Current situation...

I suspect the planned obsolescence is part of the plan to sell more units. Also the parts aren't interchangeable even within the same brand because they use too many sources--guess where.

A custom frame from an awning shop would last and be repairable, at a cost of several new units. I can't stand the waste that comes from the economics, like throwing away an appliance over a failed switch.

I just resurrected an old Keurig by servicing, as a consumer, the "no consumer serviceable parts" inside. Now working on reviving a jump box with a worn out battery. It's my nature to tinker thus.
