All in all, good for them that they are so successful. Too bad for us that they are so successful.

To be clear, I have no fault with those who got in and they will have a great time, at a great looking venue and in manageable crowd, all on one site.

Their stated goal was to get everyone on the same site but by doing so a lot of people were left out. First with reduced capacity leaving out X number of people, no car camping left all car campers from Delta out and then the huge increase in RV prices from Delta to onsite priced a lot of people out. $1500 for a powered RV site may be close to what they charged last year but it is $1000 more than I paid in Delta. Yea yea, we are all onsite but at what cost? I guess this is an example of be careful of what you ask for, you might get it...

I think traffic is going to be a bear getting in and out of the new site. The turn is directly off of Rt. 221 the main road through the area. Not sure how much room they have to stage traffic on their property until traffic backs up on 221. I'm sure they've thought of this but still...

I plan to attend Floydfest 2023, assuming I get accepted again as a volunteer on the festival dates (three years under my belt). That comes later in winter. I tend to miss 3 of the 4 headliners during work shifts, but totally great times and lots of music. Late nights are excellent! Tiny tent onsite wherever they put me, no family will come with me! Anyway, getting pumped for this one, I keep picturing good times at the old site, and then remind myself of the new site this time, so mental pictures can only be imagined. Glad you found the great offsite camping TOO, great deal! I'm sure they will arrange the necessary shuttles. Can't wait for July! Now we need the Lockn' News so we can Lockn' the calendar dates.

I think you are right, but traffic and festival are closely paired words. I remember a 12 mile backup at Lockn 3 which took us 5 hours to get in and we missed Little Feat. Bonnaroo 2019 we got as close as 1 mile from entrance and then sat in traffic for 8 hours and a half tank of gas before getting in. That was mitigated in 22 by a Tuesday entrance option.

I was talking to some Floyd deputies last summer and they said some consideration was given to having an entrance off 641, a small side road just south of the site, but VDOT said no. Traffic may be worsened by the security checks, which did not exist at Delta, it being Mikes field and all.

Someone pointed out today that this years on-site powered RV is roughly the same price as last years limited space powered on-site RV. So maybe not such a staggering price hike after all. I never really looked at the on-site option in the past because I preferred the anarchy at Delta.

If you stayed onsite last year it is just a slight increase which is fair. If you stayed in Delta like we did it cost $1000 more for a GA powered RV site onsite. I couldn't get past that, having only 10 minutes to make up my mind. Not sure why they waited until 10 minutes before tickets went on sale to release ticket prices and the lineup but it didn't feel right. #RIP Delta

At the previous location, supposedly the on-site camping was dry because you had to clear security to enter. I think the same for RV camping. The reason is that they did away with "beer jail" to make the entire campus ABC compliant--ie a big beer jail.

The balance, however, was the light-weight searches that for us delta day trippers--a smuggler's dream, made me miss Newbn!

The lockn' set-up was the best in this regard nws the delay in getting in to the showfield or having to walk around to get to high field.

Someone posted about this a few minutes ago on their FB page. It had since been deleted. this does not bode well. If nothing else it's a PR nightmare for them.

I think Bog Turtle Genocide is a great punk band name. If FF overcomes this, it needs to be the late night band at least.

FF has always sought a "home-grown" feel and its early days, from what I hear, had a hard time with the success. Pete and Dave at Lockn' didn't have the experience and, it seems, the savvy, although Pete had successes elsewhere. There are smart and capable people behind the well-run events, who shake their heads at the ones flailing.

Due to final permitting and logistical factors beyond our control, the new FloydFest site, FestivalPark, is not currently viable for a 2023 festival, and we are currently exploring all options. We will be back with more information on April 6.
Make zero mistake — FloydFest and its future are strong, and this we do know: We will see each of you, our FloydFest Family, in July 2024, as we christen your new home, FestivalPark. More information will be announced next week.
