Hefty price increase for powered RV. Times 4 over last year.

I think my total bill for three tickets and powered RV with was $1100 last year. Gonna be about $2600 for same at FF this year. But heck, unless there is a Lockn, it’s the only festival we are going to next year.

A tent site without "car camping" is a non-starter for me; too risky for major uphill-both-ways schlepping.

The line-up doesn't do anything for me, either. Looks like they are leaving bluegrass, if this is the opening shot. In that respect, hitting the Lockn' market.

My guess, based on some speculation last year, is that with the move, they are looking for a smaller crowd. Thus the higher admission/camping charges.

I'm sure whoever goes will have fun. TEHO. Certainly not being critical here.

Almost all camping options are sold out. 55 minutes.

There is a private campground about fifteen minutes south of the new Floydfest site called the Floyd Family Campground. We stay there the Tuesday night before Floydfest. Clean, very spacious, hot showers, nice view of the mountains, easy trip into the Food Lion for last minute munchies..

Maybe a good option for those able to day trip and drive at night. That campground could make bank with a shuttle.

I reserved a campsite at Floyd Family Campground 8.6 miles away for $350 as opposed to $1500 onsite. ~~I'll buy festival tix next year sometime when I find a deal.~~ I just bought two 5 day passes as well...

Intentionally small and pricey.

They just created the same vibe one gets from being lucky enough (?) to buy a ticket to Dead & Co. And that vibe is not a positive one. Nor is the vibe from all the disappointed fans.

Floydfest's promoters have now walked away from the old "home grown" feel and long time alumni will not be happy--so let's see if the line up continues to move away from bluegrass, new grass and Americana.

All in all, good for them that they are so successful. Too bad for us that they are so successful.

To be clear, I have no fault with those who got in and they will have a great time, at a great looking venue and in manageable crowd, all on one site.
