Floyd Fest 2024 July 24-28

What they are showing in the video is the Higher Ground Viewing Area. This is NOT VIP only. There is one thing conspicuously missing...The Main Stage. Guess an extra year wasn't enough time to build the stage that they wanted so they'll have a rental stage this year.

Apparently the main stage at the old site had reached it's end of life. I know that they were selling parts of it a while back as mementos. None of the old infrastructure stayed, everything had to be removed, including underground cabling...

Starting to get excited about this, just don't look at the weather forecast!

I need to start packing, but we are having guests to the house this weekend so I can't fill my normal staging area with all my crap. Means I'll probably forget to pack something when I rush to gather everything next week.

Fixed the very poorly designed refrigerator plug on my camper. As built by the manufacturer the refrigerator bashed into the plug/cord every time you used it, causing it to break after a few outings. I moved the plug somewhere more sensible. I still don't quite understand the lack of thought behind how they built that.

Been listening to my floydfest playlist trying to learn all the bands I've never heard of. Looks like there aren't many conflicts with bands that I want to see. And for the couple of conflicts I have, the bands in conflict have more than one set, so I'll really not miss anyone.

The directions the festival wants us to use (they specifically say dont follow gps) has me going past Roanoke south, exit, then back up north to the festival. Looks like maybe they don't want people making left hand turns into the site. This will add 20-30 minutes to my drive so I'm not sure which way I'll go.

Sierra Ferrell joined Lukas Nelson at the Outlaw Fest in VaB and is always good. Maybe she'll show up with others.

Drayton Farley is a bit unknown but has a good sound, hopefully he'll have his band rather than solo, and play Norfolk Blues.

Reading on facebook about how sloped powered RV is going to be, had me making a run to home depot for more lift than I normally bring.

I'll be able to level side to side up to 11 inches now, hopefully that will be enough. The ramp is 8 inches, and each of the 2x10s gives another 1.5.

(it was amusing in the home depot explaining to my wife that 2x10 actually means 1.5 x 9.25, "ITS A RIP OFF" she says)

My ancient hand-me down circular saw doesn't do mitre cuts. And I was wanting to go get a new mitre saw for $400, my wife gave me the stink eye on that though.

But, my neighbor 2 doors down has been outside building a new deck for over a year now.

Hopefully it will stop raining so I can go ask him to let me make two 45 degree cuts on the end of these to give more rampage.

But even if I don't see him I'm thinking I can get the trailer up onto the ramp if needed.

you should be able to drive on without the miter cuts and there are dozens of ways to take off that corner, including a chisel, or wood rasp, or rasp drill attachment. Doesn't need to be pretty.  Also add a hole or ring to stake it down so it doesn't slide while driving on.

Floydfest was amazing, the place was beautiful, the music was amazing, it was all very well organized and run. I was very impressed and will probably buy tickets the instant they go on sale for next year.

I saw lobster's question about tent camping, I really didnt get a chance to wander over there but you could see some of the Canopy Tent campers when walking down the main road.

I'm sure there were flatter places in the campground, but the people on the big hill by road were maniacs.

I am so beat from Floydfest that I must take Sheryl’s advice.
