Thanks for the pics. Looks like they did a nice job with the venue. How was the shuttle service? Did y'all get a chance to use it?

Thanks. Camped next to a twin camper on one side. Couldn't get a piece of paper between your camper and your neighbor on the other side. And, what's with the toothbrush? - I think I'd skip that vendor next time!

They did do a nice job with the venue. There are still many opportunities for improvement. We used the shuttle system several times a day. It was a literal lifesaver. Did I mention there are hills?

Even though I've joined the luxury world of RV camping, mine doesnt have any waste tanks, so I still have to brush teeth outside. So, I sat the toothbrush on the trailer tongue while I rinsed out one of my cups, put the cup on the tongue and knocked the toothbrush into the mud. It sunk into the mud an impressive amount, I should have taken a picture of that too. I went over the the depot to get a replacement expecting to be fleeced, but a new toothbrush was only $3.
And the neighbor was a nice guy, when I was leaving on Monday and removed the levelling for that side I got even closer as my camper leaned into his. He pulled in his slider so I could leave. It was a little annoying I couldnt open the blinds on that side without looking directly into his living room, but somehow I survived.

I was talking to my tram-mates as we chugged up the mountain at 1 MPH, wouldn't it be more efficient to use something with more towing ability? Some F-150s maybe? Don't the newer ones have the annoying auto-shutdown/startup every time you stop to save gas if that was the concern? I wonder why they chose the small 'engine' car on the tram vs a bigger one.
Someone on the facebook said this:
Well as one of the tram drivers here are some rough estimates just from the 6 tram shuttles. 390 gallons of diesel and about 1300 miles traveled total over the 6 days of using. Running 18.5 hours each of the first 5 days and about 5 hours Monday

The GOOD news is that there are no checkpoints once you are inside of the venue. No one ever looked at my wrist band or checked any bags. You could carry a backpack cooler full of cold beer into the venue and no one would notice.

“The transmission’s first gear ratio is a fairly standard 3.7:1, but that rear axle ratio: Wow — 17.311 to 1! A typical hard-core rock crawler will have maybe a 5.38:1 axle. To have three times that axle ratio is incredible”

1. You enter the site from Rt 221 on the left of the photo, and then proceed on the 1.7 mile entrance road until you reach the spot marked X, which is where you display your tickets and get wristbands. This entrance road, when double laned, keeps 3.4 miles of traffic off the main highway in Floyd County.
2. Powered RV is very unlevel at the top of the hill, but while the bottom of the hill is more level, it collects rainwater. It is a ten minute walk downhill to main stage area, where there are four stages.
3. The Depot has great free showers, and is a five minute walk from the top of powered RV. The Depot also has a sit down coffee shop, Dogtown Pizza, and a merch store. The Trams run from the Depot frequently and slowly.
4. The whole site is very hilly. Be prepared, and then some. And then some more.

I think overall you guys did a good job. The ingress was very smooth and reasonably fast. We were in GA RV and were not supposed to enter until 2 pm. I arrived at 2:01 pm and there were miles of vehicles in line already. I'm thinking many people showed up early and instead of backing up in to 221 you just let everyone in line which was the right thing to do. The main stage setup with the huge gap between the bands clearly does not work. I spoke with the stage architect and he agreed with me. Both JRAD and Sierra Hull mentioned how far away the crowd was. The divide both literally and figuratively divides the band from the crowd and degrades the experience for the band and the audience. We need to feel that physical connection with the music and it clearly was missing. I think the stage has to stay where it is for engineering reasons but you could build temporary viewing platforms that bridge the creek and bring the crowd up to the band and can be removed after the fest. All four stages right on top of each other caused some serious bleed from one to the next. The Oasis stage was blowing away the performances at the Floyd store stage. There are too many bands playing at the same time. I always feel like I have to be moving from one set to the next and can't enjoy a complete set because of proximity to the next set. I think you should reduce the number of bands by half and have many more top tier bands like LOCKN did. Please share ticket prices before they go on sale. Not cool to not know prices before they go on sale. Some of us need to plan for things like this and we can't do it if we don't have some advance knowledge of prices. Camping in the GA Powered hilly area sucked. I consider myself to be adept at setting up and leveling my trailer and I was struggling to get anywhere close to level. There has to be an area that is more level for $1800 a pop. You can have day parking in the hilliest areas like that where campers don't have to live for 5 days. For $1800 you should also include one water fill and one pump out. I hope not to come across as negative but everything I've mentioned would make for a MUCH better user experience. I recognize and appreciate all of the work that you did and it looked great. Time to step it up and take it to the next level. Oh yea, the DB stage and bar was amazing once you got to it Can't wait to see what the new stage looks like. I'll be making my decision to come next year based on the lineup.

I told them that although there is nothing to be done about the topography, they need to inform RV people way ahead of time to bring their most extreme leveling gear. And then some. And then some more.
Otherwise, all good for a shakedown cruise.
