your as free to express your thoughts and opinions as much as I am. This wasn't pointed at you at all. just saying that people shouldn't care what others are doing with their festy experience. I didn't tell you or anyone else their comments are silly. I think its silly to be inside the venue for 13 straight hours, wait in lines for $10 beers, spend $800 (or whatever) on SVIP but that's my opinion and nobody should care what I think (unless Im somebody important to you).

I don't see the sports/football tent listed under attractions this year, are we even sure its happening again. I would love to check out the skins game at one before the music starts. On a side note I'm pretty intrigued by the river option, did anyone spend the $20 to try this out last year?

floating down the james on a tube is a long boring trip. BTDT. If you like floating in the sun slowly down a lazy river--nothing wrong with that. Replace my "boring' with your "mellow" or "relaxing." But do it before or after lockn; can't beat the music for 4 hours of aimless but trapped drifting.

Now you've seen Annoying Bill's frozen pants. I rolled a canoe on the James goose hunting in January when it was about 25*. My pants froze solid, too, and stood out like an ironing board. Near death experience and I am better for it. Hence, tubing in Sept doesn't do it for me.

On the app map you can see the word "sports" on the infield next to the Ridge Local designation.

canoeing the James is great, and where we are, you're close to either flat water or faster water. Scottsville has a number of companies but they are up and down the river.

it's also a major investment of time which makes it better before or after the fest, not during.

The website says kids 12 and under are free with a paid adult so I was curious. Were they there last year?

Just a heads up, last year it was sponsored by Dish, so no Sunday Ticket. Haven't seen the coverage maps yet, but can't imagine they would give us that game.

Sunday will have the Redskins/Texans on Fox, either Steelers/Browns or Ravens/Bengals on CBS at 1, I'm afraid we'll get the Panthers/Bucs at 4...hopefully Nelson is far enough north that we aren't stuck with that one, though if so I wouldn't nearly be tempted to spend as much time in the tent.

Last year it was pretty empty in the evenings. Sat/Sun afternoons it got kind of packed. I imagine Saturday night might be a little bit more crowded this year with the VT/OSU game on primetime.
