Canned Craft Beer Exchange!

If you check back to the original post in this thread, you'll notice the craft beer exchange at Lockn' has been going on at least since L2. Everyone brings what they want to share and pick from the lot what they'd like to try. I think most people bring a six pack. I'm told many offered an assortment. Definitely seems like a great way to meet and share stories. I haven't attended one previously but my husband has. I definitely plan to be there this year. Sounds like fun!

Here's a odd thing about growlers...The Festy used to be held on the grounds of the Devil's Backbone brewery. They had a no glass policy, but for some reason you were still allowed to buy and get growlers filled from DB and bring them into the festival grounds. Seemed kinda odd that the no glass/no waste policy didn't apply to the host brewery. I guess now that The Festy will be held at Oak Ridge this little rule will disappear...

that's how it works in a loose fashion. Bring some; take some. But we also like to share and taste at the event, and someone supplies small taster cups so you don't end up "tasting" a whole one.

While there are lots of hop heads around, there are a few of us (like me) looking for porters, etc. And some like the fruit flavors. Some like the novelty labels.

But one base line: no one will be looking for a Budlite or Bichelob.

The event started at L2 in a combination of a meet-up and discussion of "good beers in cans?" Then with people coming from all over, I suggested the nation-wide can exchange, and here we are!

My SOP is to show up Friday around 10, check in, set up and race for the beer exchange. Being excited, I drink 4-5 beers in an hour or so at 5.8% plus various other intoxicants, then stumble out to the show field until the heat drives me back to my tent. I know better by now, but it keeps on happening. Slow and steady wins the race. Good news though, I think Dryw and I will be there on Thursday afternoon this year.

Cool. So Miller Lite is acceptable. Im in!

Some people like to bring a favorite beer from where-ever and others try to bring one from their home town (my preference). The can requirement makes this challenging--although there's more craft beer in cans now than in the past. A little signage about the beer and its origin is welcome.

TBD. The beer exchange is part of the meet and greet. Tentatively scheduled for Friday late morning/noon/early afternoon. Want to see the final schedule first. There will be an unofficial M&G Thursday inside of the venue before the music starts actual time and location to be revealed sometime in the near future (note that I did not say **soon**).

Oh, she'll get tips, alright--"I'll give you money if you go far, far away!"

Nobody wishes it more than I do.  I can bring it to Festy, but I'm afraid the Pallet Jack will no longer be available by then...
