Canned Craft Beer Exchange!

I've always wanted to make or buy these:

I recently enjoyed a can of 7 Spanish Angels cold brew coffee ale I picked up at the exchange-very tasty and interesting. Brought back good memories.

I will be on the lookout. You brought both to an the L3 exchange as well I think. At least the Great Dismal or I could be remembering an alternative reality.

Exactly. You are a brewer so you know; it's the malt that makes it a "Pale Ale" but most people associate the hops with the term. India Pale Ale, Imperial Pale Ale, Imperial India Pale Ale, double IPA, American Pale Ale, Imperial Vienna Pale Ale, Belgian Imperial Pale Ale, New England India Pale Ale--the marketplace is awash in Pale Ales, and most are hoppy. To add to the confusion, there's an Imperial Pale Ale that calls itself IPA; I've heard beer experts say IPA and India Pale Ale are not the same thing!

The Pabst APA still presents hops, coming in the middle of the tasting, rather than drying out the finish. But not much grapefruit citrus at the front and not much resin.

I believe Troegs Perpetual might be the Imperial Pale Ale you were thinking of. If grapefruit/citus is what you dig, you definitely want to try the New England style ones. They're also wonderfully hazy. 

I recommend 21st Amendment Back In Black then.

For stout, look for Southern Tier's Warlock in the fall. It's a pumpkin imperial stout. The pumpkin isn't overwhelming and it packs a punch to boot. Can't really go wrong with anything made by the good folks at Southern Tier. Same can be said for Hardywood.

I'm a hop head and they made a triple IPA that after the first sip I thought I might have finally hit my hop limit. By the end of the bottle, I opened the second.y
