Grateful Dead, core four reunion at lockn...rumblings

I know I made a facetious remark about wanting Hologram Garcia, but I am neither small nor particularly vocal.

Well they were good...granted they were always good, I'll take 90's dead over 70's dead just so I don't have to hear donna try to sing.

she may have been there when they were good, but she wasn't. Some people cheered when she screeched on the come-back of Playing in the Band but they's cheer at anything at that stage (like the woo-hoo guys at lockn when someone shot off a firework at 3 am).

I heard her a couple years ago, her band opened for Dark Star. She's not good now, either (but DSO's singer Lisa Mackey is).

I'v ejust turned on to Joan Osborne who sang with the Dead some and while I didn't hear her (I don't think) I 'spect she'd be a good addition.

The only place I read that was clearly joking. Maybe they were riffing off some other source I didn't hear about. There better NOT be a one-off non-fest show! Tickets will be impossible for any of us little people to get. Also: Chi-town's a good pick, being more or less equidistant from the coasts, and Jerry's last GD show, but didn't some bad shit go down at Soldier Field as well?

Everything I have been reading says that the shows at Soldier Field ARE happening, core four w/Trey July 4 weekend and that these may be the only shows. I also read that the announcement is tomorrow and that mail order could start Monday. People have already been booking hotel rooms in Chicago.

There are several threads about this if you care to look. This is also the site where I read about the Interlockn Festival long before the news broke so I am beginning to believe. Anyway we should know tomorrow.

agree, good article...the tone was great. 

In either case, decided to make a reservation at the Hilton down the street from Soldier Field. Not gonna make the same mistake twice, especially the same mistake 20 yrs later. Our LOCKN 4 core alumni are all in for a July 4th detour to Chi-Town. We'll see.

I have my room booked at the Chicago Hilton (where they filmed the Fugitive), trying to decide what type of tickets to get or VIP. Only down side is that it is not looking good for them playing Lockn', So Chi-town here we come:)
