If you stay in Lexington, stock up there. No major towns between it and Lockn. Lovingston might be over-run, depends on timing. Other "last stops" based on routes are Lynchburg, Charlottesville and Staunton. Consider block ice. And if you go with home-made in plastic bottles, or ice packs, your hotel may let you recharge them there. Now that they are going to have limited amount of early Wednesday entry's I wonder how they'll do it. They may do it like student tickets & randomly pick from entry's. I'll be trying, it would be sweet to set up & sleep in while everyone else is trying to get in & set up.

I think we may try to go opposite of that. We may get the RV on Wed as planned, load it up and sleep at home Wed night. Get up bright and early and bust a move. With 4(+?) rvs we all neeed to arrive at the same time. Plans were already laid to work Wed morning and pick up rvs on Wed afternoon. Can't see having a 100% success rate in changing that. I figure with the way he was talking about not loading in the dark we would have to be there noonish on Wed to get in. That ain't happening so why not sleep at home. Or follow thru with our original plan and get in line around midnight.

Pretty sure that Dave said any Wed. load in had to happen after school on Wed. and before dusk so that's what, a 5 hour window give or take? Luckily for us we only have a 45 minute drive so it's pretty easy to flex. We had 7 Rvs in the crew last year but at least one is taking this year off due to the date change. If they sell a pass for Wed. entry I will buy it. I do think that making them available to everybody, even GA (did I just say that?) is the most fair. The first year they were going to allow VIP early Wed. entry but rescinded that at the last minute (we showed up at 1PM on Wed. anyway and no one was there). Yes, we were first in line at Lockn 1. I really can't imagine Pete and Dave not capitalizing on an opportunity to make more money. I'll wager that the limited early entry passes will be available for purchase.

At Floyd, Wednesday entrance is a pleasant opportunity to hang out with the new neighbors. At Bonarroo, it's a necessity.

Exactly, I can't take an extra day off of work to get there on Wednesday, but I hope as many people as possible do because every person that goes in that day is a person not in the line on Thursday.

This will be nice to come right in & set up, save money, & sleep in on Thursday especially since the music starts later.

Where are you headed from? We are driving from NE Wisconsin, and our drive will be about 14 hours not counting stops. We will leave Tuesday night after we get done with work for three reasons: 1: Not having to deal with traffic (especially in Chicago- yuck) 2: We will be so excited to leave we couldn't sleep anyways 3: planning for disaster to strike (flat tires, etc). So I'm really, really hoping for a Wednesday entry so we can set up camp and get some Z's before we party Thursday! Still trying to figure out the route we're going to take. We have two options that Google maps came up with. I have a 10 hr drive so I've been coming in on Wednesday & staying about a hour out in Lexington. I take the whole week off plus the next Monday & Tuesday so I have plenty of time. This will be nice to come right in & set up, save money, & sleep in on Thursday especially since the music starts later.

Personally I would choose the longer (faster) route. I mean it's an hour faster, says googly maps...
Where are you headed from? We are driving from NE Wisconsin, and our drive will be about 14 hours not counting stops. I'm 10 hours out from Fort Wayne, IN. Looks like your gray longer rout brings you thru Fort Wayne. I will plan my departure after we find out & buy early Wednesday tickets. either way Lexington is a good lay-over spot, especially if you are not dragging an RV

Ah yes another Jeep family. I stayed in Lexington the last 2 years & they have a nice big Wallmart on N. Lee Hwy about a mile north of I64. I stop in just to walk around & always find that 1 thing I forgot. If I get the Wednesday entry I'll stop by to rest & recheck my list.No RV, just the trusty old Jeep for us.
