No but it is possible to rotate a rectangle around its center. Do I need to provide proof?

A turntable can be square or any other shape but are most often, round. If you limit yourself to "the circular horizontal platform that rotates a gramophone record while it is being played" then yes round. If however, you expand to "a rotating stand used in sculpture, metalwork, and ceramics" then you are not limited to strictly round.

I envision it as a rectangular stage that houses the lighting and provides the structural support for the roof, etc. Within that rectangle will be a ROUND rotating stage that equipment is loaded onto then spun around to the front.

But I am really anxious to see how it all works.
