I mean, it'll probably be fun. The weather's nice, there will be bands and people (some, I'm sure), and beer, so what's not to enjoy?

Richmond Folk Festival is this weekend, too, so that's where I'll be. Bombino looks cool, I'm gonna check that out. Probably try to catch Super Chikan & the Fighting Cocks. Plunky and the Oneness of JuJu is playing two sets Saturday, and so is the Lonesome River Band.

Gonna try and hit RFF on Friday, you mentioned all the highlights, plus Cajun. Otherwise not as strong a lineup as previous.

Here are some photos of Festy setting up this morning. The area is not quite as big as a football field, and the main stage is about the size of the Garcia stage. If you have been to the Three Notched brewery next to the site, the tollbooth is just past the front door of the brewery, as is seen in the last photo.

Then at the festival, you come on at 3pm and play for 25 people. How disappointing!!

This separates the pros from the amateurs. Pros will play hard for those 25 fans that bothered to show up. Amateurs sulk and play half-assed.

So last night we watched Rubblebucket and Robert Randolph from the balcony-like open windows of the second story of the adjacent brewery...sort of a VIP viewing platform, except free admission. The crowd below seemed to be near capacity, but I have no idea what the count would be. If you are in Cville just go to Three Notched for the best seats in the house.
