Welcome to the Lockn' Forum - The home of the original Lockn' Music Festival family!
True they want (and need) to make money but front-end financing sets the budget. The collapse of Woodstock50 shows how it works. Please note: This forum is in no way officially associated with Lockn' Festival or its promoters.
Speculation on the Future of Lockn

I think given the size of the acts playing this year, we will experience a much more laid back festival. This is all good for me. Shorter lines, better spots, more room to put chairs, just less hassle. Last years crowd was a solid size but I think it'll be really nice to experience LOCKN' when it feels like a smaller fest. It will feel like a private party with 10-15k (Idk actual numbers, just my guess) of your music loving friends in a beautiful venue. I keep seeing people on FB asking "wHat aRE T HeadliNErs??" and I just want to say it's not always about the damn headliner and more about the whole experience. I think 2019 will bring a really fun "experience" for us all that understand the LOCKN' mission and vision. They aren't wavering from that core mission whatsoever, just scaling it down a bit.

Some of Lockn' parts are tied in with other parts. It's not simply two guys hire some bands and sell tickets to pay for them.
An important point is that it needs to be financially successful this year.

I'm OK with this year's efforts to cut costs at the "headliner" level. Let's hope there is a critical mass that agrees.

“Unfortunately, the festival has never been profitable and this year the promoters were forced to make major changes,” writes Chief Curtis Sheets. “The most significant change was to cut the scope of the event in half. Reducing the scope opened the door for other vendors to bid on the services we typically provide.”

If it's such a rain maker, then why are they so desperate to sell the festival to anyone within ear shot? Why are there less and less headliners every year? I love Lockn, and I'm there every year, this year being no exception. However, as a realist these things do ebb and flow. The writing has been on the wall for sometime.
