Lockn' 2020: The Early Days

I'm going to say something that may be unpopular...

It is time to retire Grateful Gospel.

There, I said it and I'm glad I said it...

I don't disagree...

Would prefer grateful grass, honestly.

Maybe not retire, but re-purpose. Remember when it was held at The Triangle stage (L2 I think)?

Do it in the forest and I'd haul my fat ass out there from VIP RV.

GG is hard on the band that follows, as it plays to the backs of people fleeing the venue. So going back to the woods is not a bad plan.

I like Keller better than I used to, and he is not as omnipresent as he used to be--but he's still smug. And to add a bit to the annoyance, GG/Church isn't much Grateful, or Gospel, or church.

But because it's popular and a Lockn' tradition, it might be unwise to drop it next year if there are other changes afoot.

I love it too. It has a special meaning for me ever since we spread our friends ashes there per his request at L5. That's why I can't vote to retire it. But change is the only constant and moving it to the woods would not cause the world to implode.

I figured something cheaper this year, I believe Phil and Panic shouldn't break any banks.  Def Warren wouldn't.

Have Bobby be a "friend" with Phil

I think the Sunday closer slot has to be accepted as one of low attendance, and better to shoot the wad on Saturday night. So Phil, like Bobby, is a good candidate for Sunday. Fans will stay and have a good show; the line-up looks strong throughout the weekend; the people who need to leave won't feel like they didn't get their money's worth by missing it.

Especially next year since Virginia changed the law and allows schools to start before Labor Day. Lockn's challenge is getting people with young children to attend, and also young people who work jobs without the flexibility/days off that older workers have.

I'll circle it around to the other side of the conference table and we'll ink it!

I guess you’re referring to Festy...speakingof which I saw Samantha Fish at jazz fest Nola and she was awesome ..if she is still touring with Anders next year I think they would both be a great addition.
