I bought my daughter a multi-hundred dollar ticket to Harry Styles. They cancelled the show, no refund, reschedule sometime in 2021. So Harry Styles has $200 of my dollars, I don't want to hear anymore bitching. At least if Lockn stole your money it went to Lockn.

You always take a few risks.they need to run a few numbers..and like usta make people sign a waiver just like skydiving...don’t take the risk if it’s not worth the injury 

Don’t get me wrong, wearing a mask is basic disease control and should be followed. I am talking about speculation as to whether things are going to resurge, whether we should open schools, infection rates, death rates, etc. The larger social public health strategies are a bit of a crap shoot. If no one leaves their house, that will certainly put a damper on infection, but can’t go on indefinitely, so the strategies after that are largely unproven. I am also not saying that in a mean way, everyone is doing what they think is right (well, almost everyone). We should try to control it, but not freak out if we fail. In the end we won’t know the nature of this disease for a few years when some comprehensive report comes out that no one will read or pay attention to because Prince Harry just got arrested for drunk driving or some shit.

IMO It’s impossible to really control but there are also some simple things that DRASTICALLY cut down on transmissions
1. Just wear a mask everywhere you’re around people. It doesn’t protect you but the research is pretty clear that it keeps you from getting others sick. If you’ve seen the “we wear pants so we don’t pee on each other” meme it explains it pretty well.
2. If you need to be around other people indoors, be quick with your time and be strict about keeping your distance. Go in and out of the store and don’t take your time. Try not to cram large amounts of people into one room.
3. As long as you’re wearing a mask most of the time and following the most basic of precautions, do what you want outdoors.

I think Lockn and other festivals could theoretically happen under these types of conditions. Theoretically is of course different than practically, but **if** people behave, I don’t think an outdoor concert is a guaranteed super spreader event.

The problem comes when you slip up in any of these areas which is inevitable. Covid is a nasty bitch that exploits that every single time. I’ve seen it spread to 5 people in 24 hours due to 1-2 simple mistakes. Just buried a resident today that got it from an an a symptomatic Carrier,

However, at this point I think there are proven ways to manage it. Let’s hope that can somehow translate into a partially salvaged concert season

I read a good piece a few weeks ago about viral load. It’s not proven but there’s a lot of evidence for it and it makes sense anecdotally. If you’re talking to someone 4 feet away for 15 seconds you could test positive, but you’ll get a lot sicker if someone 6 inches away from you coughs in your face. It would explain some of the variability in how sick people get and why so many health care workers have gotten really sick despite their age

what more important with viral load/dose is the length of time of exposure. A cough is obvious; a three hour conversation across a table is far worse. Singing and hollering is probably as bad as a sneeze after several minutes.  And what's in the wake of a runner is a threat for many seconds at least.

Actually sore throat alone is NOT usually Covid-19, but then I started running a low grade fever. So I wanted to be tested and visited Dr Google. The CVS pharmacy the next town over actually does "drive thru" testing, and I qualified for a test after filling out the online questionnaire. So I went and was directed by signs to the drive-thru where you pick up your prescriptions. I checked in and was amazed when she handed me a bag of supplies through the window. It was a "do it yourself" kit! Now I work in a lab and know how to collect nasopharyngeal swabs, but I had NEVER done one on myself! At least I knew how to do it. I can't imagine someone having to collect one never having seen one done! So now I wait...

Relix magazine arrived today with a full page back cover ad for Lockn' 8 in October 2020. Yeah, I know. But I can find it encouraging!
