That statement would lead me to believe that there will be events on The Farm in 2022 and they will be similar in scope to the three weekends in August 2021. Surprising, since it worked so well this year...**sarcasm**

previous unsubstantiated theories were that Lockn' wouldn't put on a GD cover/tribute band on the main stage if any of the remaining Four were playing. Or not that day. The theory often fell apart in practice.

Look at the Skull and Roses fest with Phil attending along with Dark Star and other notables--no reason Lockn't couldn't replicate something like that (it its strategy is to be more Dead centric).

Skull & Roses will return to Ventura, CA in 2022 boasting a lineup featuring Phil Lesh & Friends, Dark Star Orchestra, Oteil & Friends, and Melvin Seals & JGB. The four-day festival will return to Ventura County Fairgrounds on April 7th–10th for its fourth installment following a postponement in 2020.

For the first time in the festival’s history, an original member of the Grateful Dead, bassist Phil Lesh, will appear as one of the headliners. Taking place at the same seaside site that played host to eleven Grateful Dead concerts from 1982–1987, Skull & Roses will feature a turntable stage with continuous music all day and night.

Additional artists slated to appear on the bill include Keller Williams’ Grateful Grass featuring The Hillbenders, Jackie Greene, Circles Around The Sun, Stu Allen & Mars Hotel, Pink Talking Fish, Jerry’s Middle Finger, Midnight North, Big Steve and the Ass Bites From Hell, Roots of Creation’s Grateful Dub, Cubensis, Electric Waste Band, Xtra Ticket, The Warlocks of Tokyo, Brown Eyed Women, Marcus Rezak’s Shred Is Dead, and more.

Skull & Roses has evolved from a festival that hosts bands exclusively performing songs of the Grateful Dead and Jerry Garcia to now include those that have been inspired and influenced by their timeless music.

I think next year they’ll go for the Big Pay Day. I think Shapiro gets the Phish Festival that’s always rumored. If the idea of Lockn Proper is more less abandoned for the time being then Phish is the only “For Sure” sell out payday out there for them. It’s only one band to coordinate, it’s an instant sell out regardless of size & has almost zero risk to fail beyond weather issues.

Beyond that he’s gotta get Billy Strings for a weekend, that should be the number one fan demand for the smaller weekend format. And he’s gotta pay off THE Q cancellation from 2020, with a weekend run. They do those three things, they’ll be “outta the red” financially, suffice the fans’s concerns mostly & create enough interest in the larger scale festival for it to return the next year.

The thing with Phish is they tried to have other bands, huge mistake… Phish fans like their festivals to be “one band” only. The big thing with Phish festival is capacity, they’d need to sell 20,000-25,000 tickets, which they could easily, but can they handle that many people on site, space wise, with a MidWay & all the shit that comes with a Phish Festival, that IDK… But they could sell it at $300-$350 price point & no one would complain and it’s easy to promote.

The Billy Strings shows need to happen in the spring, I feel. They missed the boat big time not hooking him for something last summer. Dude was playing old race tracks, drive ins & open fields… Lockn should had him for a weekend 2 or 3 times.

He put on a mighty fine show at Floydfest.

Peak work season where I live is year round
