More a driving alert than a weather alert but those heading in from the west should be heads up that it can be very foggy crossing Afton mountain on 64 of crossing the blue ridge on 60 as well. Day or night.

My thoughts exactly.

I check the weather in the week leading up to the festival just to make sure we aren't anticipating a major storm, otherwise I just look at the daily forecast when I get there.

I think most people are aware of this already, but I'll reiterate: Regardless of what the forecast says on Tuesday or Wednesday, prepare for four days of torrential rain. Bring warm clothes, ponchos, rain/mud appropriate shoes and anything else you can think of to keep you partying through a downpour.

Not so sure I agree with this one.

Every weather scenario is different, but (depending on the severity) a lot of rain in a short period of time can be a lot more damaging than a light rain throughout the day. I can power through light rain - a poncho, change of socks, and liquor will get me by. But heavy rain is enough to drive people to shelter, postpone/cancel shows, and cause serious problems for the festival grounds. Mud and standing water can ruin a festival in a hurry.
