So, you are literally allowed no glass items at your campsite? Or a kitchen knife with which to cut your fruits and veggies? Or, only so much alcohol?
I can't imagine they search every vehicle. Is it just if they see you with something when they're cruising by?

They did search every vehicle pretty thoroughly actually, even going into the bathroom and shower of our camper. We had a unique situation where my friend actually lives in his camper for work on the road. He had glass everywhere as well as a full bar which wasn't really hidden. The searchers were reasonable though and told us to make sure no glass left the camp site. No way was I giving up my jar of homemade yummy pickles anyway... I have a feeling this year they might be a little more strict due to all the publicity...

I can't imagine that they search every vehicle either, but you never know when yours is the one they're in a good/bad enough mood to do up right. Almost anything in a glass container can easily be transferred to plastic, and I actually prefer to cut up my veg beforehand. Food prep with a festival going on all around you can be...overwhelming at times.
So this results in a lot of plastic, yes. Use BPA-free, rinse that shit at camp, wash when you get home and re-use or -purpose it.

The searches were all over the board last year. Some were super strict (I hear they took away stake mallets from some tent campers), and some were practically non-existent (they simply asked us if we had any glass then sent us on our way). Rule of thumb: if it's forbidden and you don't want it to be taken away, don't bring it. Or at least hide it really, really well.

I can honestly say if the searcher decides to steal my hammer I will get their name and call CID right there demanding this individual come and set up our tent seeing as they just stole my hammer.

That's like telling me to come camp out enjoy our festival but by all means don't bring a tent.

May want to send that letter now. My buddy had his claw hamma taken...and we still laugh aboot it. last year they took kitchen knives--some rented RV's come with them as pat of the package so their goes your deposit.
another guy had one of those block sets.
And hammers.
Supposedly you could get them back Monday from lost and found on your way out.
Apparently the long thorough searches caused a lot of the unpardonable delay getting in, so Lockn will likely address that issue. How?
Who knows: spot searches, more searchers, less looking...
I'm sure they won't let glass bottles into tent areas; RV's are better contained. That would also include glass coffee pots and jars.
An 18" 2x4 can work for stakes. And your tire iron. and your trailer hitch if you have the receiver type (Shhhhh).
Many sandwich spreaders have a really sharp serated edge that can cut veggies, salami and cheese. (Shhhhhh). And it's not like the
airport with xray screeners.
"Anything that can be used as a weapon" is the dumbest definition anyway. (As in "Only a cordless mouse for your
laptop lest you fashion it into a garrotte.")
As for alcohol, my take is, pigs get fed and hogs get slaughtered. I doubt they will count your beers (but loose in a cooler may help).
If you have stacks of cases of beer, and cases of liquor, then it's obvious you are setting up shop and will be denied.

Do what I did last year. Bring a two by four thats about 18 inches long. works good.Still waiting to hear from lockin. The question I posed went as follows "are they going to take my hammer so I can't set up my tent? If so are you going to have them set up my tent after they take my hammer?"
When I went thru security they asked me what it was, so I told them it was my hammer. no fuss, no muss. wax on, wax off. ...no problem.

I agree, no need to freak out. It just feels strange to me. I'm used to Wanee - 4 glorious days living in hippie land, with very little hassle from authorities. I've never seen broken glass lying around, or witnessed any violence. I imagine there's always a little. There seems to be a lot of fear/resistance from the powers that be. I might just stick with Wanee in the future, depending . . .
(and wouldn't you think they'd want more people getting stoned? violent crimes have apparently dropped by quite a bit in Colorado in recent months)

Last year I didn't have a hammer or like item and neither did the people around me and no one had an issue putting up their tent. The ground was soft enough to put the stakes in without. And based off the weather here we have had recently I am pretty sure it should be fine again this year.
No reason to get all worked up about it.
