So as fun speculation, I thought it would be good to tell everyone this bit of information. It seemed he was perhaps trying to tap into the show a little, maybe brush up on how/what they were playing, not just watch it as a spectator.
Everyone is having fun picking up hints and clues, this was me just trying to participate, not get into a pissing match about whether Mayer is/is not a Phish/GD fan and when.
It's all in good fun.

Yes, yes I have. He and Andy Cohen (one of his good friends and a deadhead) have been known to attend their shows together. Quote from a July 30th, 2015 interview with Andy Cohen about his friendship with Mayer:
"He's great. I love him," Andy said. "We're buddies and we bond over the Grateful Dead and he's just a great guy." (Most recently the guys caught up in San Francisco to catch the Grateful Dead during their "Fare Thee Well" shows.)
Anywhoo, here's a video of Mayer teasing Stash in 2006. So I'd say he's liked Phish since at least then.

...OR MAYBE Lockn is about to announce that one of the Phil lineups will be the Fare Thee Well lineup except for with Mayer replacing Trey??!!??!
That's right...PHIL & COMPANY...you heard it here first!
Maybe some sort of super group line-up, which was discussed pre/post show? You never know.

But in all the years I have followed Mayer on social media (don't judge, I like him), I've never heard mention of him liking Phish. But who knows.

I follow John Mayer on Snapchat (he's actually very funny- and you can tell he has a few neurosis), and tonight he posted several videos from the Phish concert this evening. It appeared he was standing at the soundboard.
Why would John Mayer be at a Phish show? Sign of things to come? Just showing support to Trey? Discussing future business?

Here's a China Rose. Flowers always help.

I don't think 2 cases of beer is unreasonable. But then again, I'm from Wisconsin...

Telluride has it's own particular brand of insanity. People literally line up for the next day WHILE THE SHOW IS STILL GOING ON. Now, it's open air and you can hear but we all know that's not the same thing. IMO, the system works - whatever the system is - n00bs have to suck it up and learn, vets figure out how to work it. Life.
<hops off soapbox>
I hope you're not calling me a noob.

Or we can always Airbnb, like usual. Which I prefer.

Our favorite local band Rosewater, with guest bassist Norm from our second favorite local band, played two sets. First from 3 to 5 pm second from 8 to 11. We still haven't figured out a name for that mix but that didn't seem to matter. The music was awesome. Our neighbors turned out to be heads (not a lot of neighborly interaction in Humboldt) and dug it and one even camped.
The two coolest parts we didn't see coming were 1) huge hollow stumps make really cool resonance and gave the bowl an awesome unique tone. 2) bands unified and our tribe grew together and larger.
I'm so short sighted I didn't realize the full ramifications of what we did, I was building something nice for the party. Turns out everyone loves it and two more bands are already scheduling.
I'm going to build a hexagonal stump house (it's not a tree anymore) off the back and live in it and use it for a green room when we have music.
I have just been floating along in life since my separation in January with no real purpose or passion. Now I have a dream that has already grown past my ability to imagine.
So anyway, I had a pretty good weekend!

This is how it's done at telluride bluegrass. They open the gates at 6am everyday. People wait in line and rush the field for the bests spots. Claim them and then leave. Annoying to the point that I won't go back. Well, may not go back. It's a pretty magical place.
But, I will say, when we went to see Umph at the Riverside in MKE over Halloween a group of ten of us went in and saved twenty seats in the balcony, just laying our jackets on the seat next to us, and everyone else trickled in within the hour to those spots. Same thing, I wonder?

Some asshole brought in a gigantic tarp to Wrigley and duct taped it to the field, and stood watch on it, so 50 of his closest friends could take their time coming in and still have an up front spot. My friend was right in front of them and said it was the shadiest shit he'd ever seen at a concert. I'll see if I can find the picture he took...

We are staying in ADA as well, if anyone needs overflow storage or wants to pop in for a visit, I'm offering our spot.
We will have Christmas lights on our pop-up and a "Special Needs" yard sign, that my husband has had since he broke his leg and went on tour with Phish in 1999. He's resurrected it for his crippled wife.

Are you guys staying in ADA? Husband and I are, wondering who else here is?
